So the Dazzlings are returning in an EQG short (and possibly a special based on that Starswirl Do-Over book) · 8:38am May 25th, 2019

I should be excited seeing how much I adore Adagio and the sirens, but judging from the summary, they're not back to get revenge on Sunset and get defeated once more.

Nope, the writers have reformed them. :ajbemused:

Even though they were never created with redemptions in mind unlike Sunset (whose "high school bully" villain persona was a far lesser evil than "sadistic sirens hellbent on mind control and world domination") and Prince Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Coupled with the fact that bringing back fan favourite villains like the Dazzlings and hastily throwing in a reformation for them because "Yay, that means more of my fav villain!" is a terrible idea because it completely redesigns their characters and gets rid of everything that made them such fun villains to begin with. Like trying to force a diesel-powered vehicle to work with regular gasoline even though that vehicle was never designed for it in the first place.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFun.

Trust me, I know all about running stuff with the wrong fuel...

Hopefully, the song will be good.

I wouldn't mind a reformation but the problem is that they milked it to death that it's become very repetitive. that and the Equestria girls series really needs an antagonist that won't bend the knee like the misfits from Jem and the holograms the Dazzlings would have been the perfect fit for that.

Ohh, goody. Another reformation story. I’m soooo excited...

They better put some damn effort into this one. The writers have shown they make good ones, Sunset Shimmer, but they’ve shown they can be really rubbish with them too.

At least the Dazzlings are coming back.

They haven't put any effort into a redemption since Sunset, why would they start now?

Well, the summary doesn't really say that they're good guys, sounds like they're just trying to make the best of a bad situation. Also they're powerless, I would be angrier if they were back for revenge with no power to back it up.

Trust me, the Forgotten Friendship book came out before the special itself did and pretty much predicted everything. And given how these shorts are building up to a music festival, and if you've read the book Starswirl Do-Over which is about a music festival and includes the Dazzlings like this newly-announced short, trust me. There's a special about the music festival coming out and the Dazzlings are reformed.

Saw the video.

Yep, me too.

I guess on the very VERY minor positive note, while they are annoyingly pulling the Woobie card on the Sirens, they haven't simply changed their characters to "we're reeeeally sorry for that time we remorselessly tried to enslave everyone, we're good guys now, let's ignore our massive list of crimes". Apparently they still don't like Sunset and the others, they're just accepting the fact they have no magic anymore and have to live like normal humans.

Still unbelievably pissed they went this route though. The writers just couldn't help themselves. :facehoof:

I'm more slightly annoyed than pissed. But at least they didn't fuck with the space-time continuum in order to pull off a extremely petty revenge scheme unlike a certain filthy pony

They still did terrible things though and the writers still brought them back and stapled an unneeded redemption onto them anyway.
