I'd like the contrast of Adagio and Rarity. Rarity trying to protest Adagio's saucy nature with "But a lady..." but to no avail.

Though Rarijack with Adagio sprinkled in would be neat. Those two are so different, and that's usually a focus for many writers is what they have different or in common. It'd be interesting to see Adagio grow close to both and to sort of play matchmaker, while also being in the relationship herself. Bake her cake and eat it too

Really depends on what your perspective on Adagio is though, seeing as she's a less historically defined character than the other two. From how old you think she is (ancient? or thrown forward in time and is still relatively young/adult ish?) to what kind of experiences you think she's had, to "does she still have her powers at all". But regardless of specifics, I'd supposed Rardagio and Rarijack+1 would both be super neat to read about.

I dig the rare pairs...I'd like to see someone tackle Rara and Adagio. That's so unique and interesting. Buuuut. That being said, Rarity and Adagio are a great pair.

Throw in applejack and you got a heck of a storm. If you can make a threeway story work well it may give me enough inspiration to change up my canon a bit. I've been floating on the Sunset and Dash ship...and since I ship Twilight with both of them...why not three way? :o

So if you pick the third option I'll have extra special interest in it!

And it is comments like this why I make these posts and wanna get peoples opinions. I had the same thought because normally I ship Sunset and Adagio together but the more I thought about it the more I started to like the idea of Adagio and Rarity being together because there is so much that could be done with that. But on the flip side? I have seen adagio and applejack done ADORABLY well. Hell I've even seen Adagio and Sci-Twi done well so Adagio is great shipping fuel like Sunset is its just a little tougher writing her at times.

I am really leaning on making it a threeway relationship story because the way I see it? Adagio is a show off but her love for attention and adoration could be taken in a multitude of different way. And out of everyone in the cast? She is the most likely to form or try and form a harem so it works for her and I imagine Adagio is the type to "Have more than enough love to go around" and I could totally see her with Rara and Rarity or Rarity and Applejack with Rara getting with someone else or just being the occasional lover whenever she comes to visit.

Mmm, you're losing me on the "harem" thing. Being a poly relationship feels different to me than saying Applejack and Rarity are a part of Adagio's harem. I dunno. Maybe it's just my view on that. I also like Adagio actually showing interest in others as opposed to them kinda falling for her despite her annoying habits and teasing. She's more than just sex appeal, and not many people write for her outside of "Look at how good she is at persuading ALL the people to be her's." I kinda dig the mama bear Adagio that takes care of Aria and Sonata for example. She loves them in her own way, Will she berate and humiliate them? Yeah. But GOD HELP YOU if you do it. Y'know?

Liiiiike...Rarity has a fancy show that she and Applejack go to.

Someone makes a snide comment about the 'hick sneaking in' and Adagio goes from "Civil guest" to "BITCH YOU DID NOT JUST INSULT MY BUMPKIN"

Oh well honestly I thought Harem and Poly were the same thing but clearly they are not. I dig the motherly loving yet seductive and teasing bitchy version of Adagio. One who is intelligent and crafty, witty and cunning but also surprisingly human and motherly to an even more surprising degree.

Like I could totally see Rarity asking Applejack to model for her and at first Applejack says no but then Adagio convinces Applejack to do it as the prize money from the fashion show would be valuable to her and would very much impress Rarity since she knows or suspects that the two of them have feelings for one another and wants to help push them closer.

Then during said fashion show some cunt insults Applejack and Adagio takes it upon herself to go mamadagio on their ass and this impresses Applejack as seeing that reminds her a lot of her mother.(Adagio and Buttercup have the same hair mostly)

Besides both being musicians, I never really contemplated Rara as a character myself. Though her being childhood friends with AJ would add another dimension of ship-webbing. Then Rarity being impressed with celebrity Rara. So then you'd have ancient Adagio with more than enough love to go around, a starstruck Rarity fanworshipping Rara and AJ just getting love all over.

It'd be a weird love-quadrangle if I ever saw one.

Also, you seeing Adagio and SciTwi, I've seen a story or two about it. Maybe one about AJ/Adagio, but if you have any recommended readings, feel free to link them!

haha yeah we've probably read the same stories in that regard. Cause theres only like one good adagio x Applejack fic. Adagio x Fluttershy is also incredibly cute with Adagio playing the role of a misunderstood but very sweet and cheeky bully/big sister/mama bear.

So with Rarity and Adagio I see them bonding over their mutual love of fashion, gossip and gaining of attention; while Applejack would be connected to Rara through their past as childhood friends with AJ perhaps never noticing that Rara's feelings toward her were a bit more than friendly when they were little but a move away for Rara didn't help her chances with the young farm girl.

I could see Rara feeling challenged by Rarity and Adagio when she arrives on the scene cause the idea I had hinged on Rara coming to Canterlot to do a charity event of sorts and has hired Rarity to design her costumes. Upon arriving she makes it clear that while working with Rarity that she will not lose the farmgirl to her.

Adagio would enter the mix when the siren is revealed to be a very big fan of Rara having used her music to stay in a positive place during her redemption arc that would be mentioned in passing...really wanna do a whole entire story for that on its own.

I could see Rara, Rarara, and Adagio all fashion-gossiping to be honest. And if I had to step out of the "that would be so good" bubble, I could imagine AJ if she were show-accurate being completely oblivious to Rara's feelings. It'd become a silly dense-protagonist trope at that point.

Though shit, some Rara vs Rarity drama would be juicy. I could also see some other potential plot threads
- Rarity's self confidence against childhood friend AND famous celebrity
- Rara's confidence since she's been separated too long
- Some form of petty war between the two. I want to entertain the idea of Rarity sabotaging her outfits, but at the same time that'd backfire on Rarity too.

Also, I'd try to keep the Adagio-redemption thing as a separate thread from the Rara-Rarity debacle. Or keep them distant if they have to be in the same story. I'd feel like having Adagio favoring Rara over Rarity would seem to be a potential issue. Though AJ-Rarity getting closer with Adagio-Rara trying to keep the love quadrangle and not lose to Rarity would be pretty dramatic and crazy.

Though most of the above is my mind finding plothooks and running at 50 mph with them. Could be your ideas completely ignore or veer off in separate directions!

Ah I see what you mean. Perhaps in this context then Adagio isn't exactly evil but she isn't redeemed either. Perhaps Rarity goes to Adagio with the promise of some kind of generosity only Rarity can provide. Like lets say Rarity learns of Adagio's like of Rara and offers her a chance to win the popstars heart by designing outfits for Adagio that would surely impress Rara and take her attention away from wanting to be with Applejack so that Rarity could have her all to herself which is a good way to avoid the whole "rarity ruins rara's clothes" scenario
