I'd heard about them, after The Best Gift Ever. Sat down and watched a few...
Some of them are pretty good, a couple feel like episode filler. Since it's on Hasbro's offical page, yo:
These are the past two to come out. The first one is the most recent, and... it's all right. Twilight has a fear of lady bugs and turns to Starlight for help... that can only go well, especially when she gets out the textbook based on magical pseudo science. Kinda predictable, but fun ^^
The second here I really like - Twilight is sick in bed and her magic is out of control. First thing the main cast does, of course, is try to touch the magical dust she keeps sneezing everywhere and Rarity's hooves get turned into roller skates, which, while they look a little silly is kinda funny. It builds on itself well, especially as Twilight accidentally curses all her friends.
Interestingly enough the Best Gift Ever (with what appears to be three of the shorts) has been released on DVD in the UK this past November. Hopefully we'll see a release in the US in a few months and, if not,... well, I've got my VLC player handy. Dunno how streaming vs physical media does in each country, but I've always been a fan of physical copies... and CRT televisions and SNES-era gaming. Good gawd, think I'm getting old XD

You've mentioned that in the past, and I hope so, too. I've read the picture definition is superior and things like artifacting are less of an issue. I don't entirely know for sure, though I own a few Blu-ray/DVD combos. I know the capacity of a blu-ray is much higher.
Though back in my day, youngin', we had snowy VHS copies recorded off TV and we had to make due with that! Yes... contain some of my best memories, and, just found out, totally illegal, too! *falls asleep, snores* Yes... hey childhood friend, wanna watch The Muppet Babies with me? Mom recorded it off Disney while we were at Daycare yesterday. Afterwards we can play Nintendo... got a new cleaner so it won't blink anymore. Yes, that sounds great... *snore, snore* then we'll put the hay in the apple and eat the candle, everything will be fine. Just like it used to be.
