Some Catching Up to Do · 5:00pm Jan 30th, 2019

Sorry, I have been all this active on January. I spent quite a majority of this month on a color swatch gathering and so apparently took longer than I thought. And now having spent a little overnight time finishing it, it may take me a while's rest (and some tax filing) before becoming active again.

In the meantime, there are a few Netflix exclusives that I've watched, but never gotten the chance to give a proper review. *Clears Throat*

This first caught my eye when I saw a trailer on Twitter. Of course, people do say that the animation is very dated, but to be fair, I've also heard this went through a bit of development hell. When it was released on Netflix while at my family's house for Christmas, I immediately dove in (I have watched the first animation adaptation beforehand and so have quite a bit of knowledge on the lore).

To put it shortly, this is a good start for those who want to know about Watership Down as a whole, and there is an ensemble cast (Ben Kingsley as Woundwort etc). Though personally, as I've talked about twice on a Discord Channel, I still prefer the film adaptation (some, even now, say it's too frightening, but the same can be said to a Don Bluth Film; you gotta know what you're made of).

I've read the book, seen both Disney adaptations and spinoffs such as Jungle Cubs and Tailspin, and other adaptations such as Russian animated feature and Chuck Jones' adaptation, and now this. This also first came up as a trailer on Youtube around the same time the Disney remake showed about. And it looked like it was gonna be a faithful adaptation since Shere Khan has a lame paw and the presence of Tabaqui. Directed by Andy Serkis and having an ensemble cast as well, this was going to be something quite exciting.

And it is to an extent, though there are parts that seem a little rushed as a majority of the books are filled in. Still, it's worth a watch.

At one point recently, I binge-watched all of the original show, and now when this first showed as a trailer, I was hyped.

And now seeing this on Netflix, there are many ups and few downs. The ups being an intro that gives off a Schindler's List vibe, and overall similarity to Kim Possible. The downs involve spoilers. But still, it's also worth a watch if you're interested in a soap drama.

I would like to end this by asking those of us in the States to stay bundled up and remain indoors for as long as possible. Unless the weather is worse enough for my bosses to close down Petsmart, I will have to risk going to work tonight. Be careful throughout this week.
