Today was a pretty good day for writing, wordcount-wise. I wrote more of an intro for Chapter 5 to flesh out Apple Bloom a bit more, and wrote about 1000 words for Chapter 6. It was pointed out that Apple Bloom's transformation felt a bit "fast", so to say, and I'd agree with that. I think the addition to Chapter 5 helps a bit, but I may go back to the introduction to Sigil scene to draw it out more, and make it feel more meaningful.
Here's a teaser for Chapter 6:
"It's...times...like these," panted Scootalo, "that I wish...I could fly..."
"Only a Lirin could fly at these altitudes," said Sigil. "The air is much too thin for most pegasi or other flying creatures to even hover off the ground. You would need quite an impressive wingspan."
As if to gloat, Sigil unfurled his wings and took to the air inside the cave, ascending toward the pinprick of light effortlessly. "I'll be waiting for you at the top!" He yelled toward them as he flapped his wings and continued upward. His voice echoed off the walls.
"...Show-off..." Scootaloo muttered under her breath.
As an additional note, I am (currently) planning three more chapters: 6, 7, and 8. Though they will likely either be longer than normal or broken up into more than three. But I'd say the story is shaping up to be at most 20k words, so we're about at the halfway point!
Aw, poor Scoots.
