End of the Year Blog · 6:42pm Dec 31st, 2018

With just about twelve hours away from where I am, perhaps now it's the best time to explain my summary on this year.

1) It's kinda been sad, especially with my grandfather passing away and seeing his house and the general Saint Louis Area for the last time for a very long while. At least he's in a better place with his wife.

2) A lot of energy was taken right out of me with my retrospectives, especially with The Land Before Time. Does me quite proud to do this.

3) I may have lost Toon Boom, Adobe Products, and my old car, but I've quickly brought myself up to snuff with both Clip Studio Paint and a new car, both bought on or near my birthday.

4) Finally graduated; though I do admit that I went through the ceremony rather blind.

So. What are my New Years Resolutions?

1) Getting a higher paying job, preferably a full time one. So far, Schwan's is very promising; I've applied for a part-time warehouse associate position that pays 15 per hour. Previously I applied to be a route driver with a salary of around 47K, but without a CDL license or experience with a truck or van, it was moot. But so far, my application for the warehouse position is still in the review phase...

2) Use my Christmas Money and buy something a special saddle. A saddle I really need to get back on.

3) Either upgrade my computer or get a more powerful one. I've seen a few enterprise-class computers that could probably last me a damn good time for around 5K at least on Amazon. Even getting an enterprise-class laptop can be a good investment as well.

4) Continue Expanding on the Jongojiverse in a visual form. What you've seen with the character bios, a couple comics, illustrations, and the Land Before Time Beastiary on Deviantart is only just a taste of what I have. I won't go into doing full-fledged comic books until I've upgraded from Clip Studio Paint Pro to CSP EX. Adapting the stories to a comic script format can allow me to look back on past stories and see what I can improve as I write down a story bible.

5) Continue evolving my art style as I have dramatically since September. And also continue working on my field by acquiring cheaper software; I probably will lose access to Autodesk Maya since I've graduated, but I can at least apply what I've learned in school with Blender3D, which is of course free. Likewise, I would acquire Moho Studio 12 before going to Toon Boom again thanks to a far cheaper non-subscriptive license (the rigging tools look more promising as well). It will mean that I might have to work from scratch again. My computer isn't powerful enough to run it properly, but the free video editing software DaVinci Resolve looks very promising.

And that's pretty much it. Other than that, it's just the usual. Though I am excited for a movie at the end of May.

I thank my family and friends who are very supportive of me, and I hope for the best of them and of you.

Breathe Deep, Seek Peace.
