I drift in and out of the fandom these days, so I'm not as brushed up on my Gen 5 news as I should be... until last night when I was finishing edits for the next chapter of Empress Returns and I had some time to kill. So I read what information is out there and I remain cautiously optimistic. Mostly what I've seen have been setting descriptions and character designs; some look okay, some don't, but we're still so far away from 2020 all that might change before we get there.
Although, when I first heard of how the setting worked (each pony race having its own interconnected realm), I immediately started thinking of an Age of Sigmar crossover, even though I don't play Age of Sigmar beyond collecting Lizardmen models and I still haven't finished Empress Returns (and given how sparse my writing schedule can be at times, probably won't finish until G5 is well on its way).
So, those are what few thoughts I have on the subject are.
I like to know how they will end Gen 4 or even if they will go to a tenth Season before they go for Gen 5.
4962981 I think they're wrapping Gen 4 up with Season 9 and a sendoff movie, then opening 2020 with a Gen 5 prequel before Season 1 proper.

The movie is going to be sending off Gen 4? That makes sense and I’m excited for the prospect, but I thought the movie was going to be about Gen 5.
The ending of Gen4 will be Twilight altering the EQG mirror and connecting it to the immaterium...
We learn that DIscord is actually Malice/Malal and was in hiding.
