My Thoughts Regarding The MLP Christmas Special · 1:35am Oct 28th, 2018
CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SAID SPECIAL; DON'T CONTINUE IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT.
I've just watched the Christmas/Hearth's Warming Special for MLP, and I have a few thoughts about it.
1) Hearing Derpy talk again was nice, but her voice sounded weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeird.
2) Hearing Spike sing again was torture.
3) Fluttershy was being adorable.
4) Flim and Flam are still arseholes.
But the fifth, and most important, thing is this:
And lo, many shipfics were torpedoed into oblivion. I know it's been set already that SugarMac is a thing, but this just sets it in stone that MarbleMac is never going to happen. I uploaded a WEBM version of this to Derpibooru, and one of the comments was "You can actually pinpoint the exact second when her heart rips in half."
Poor Marble.
Anyway, what did y'all think of the episode? I give it a solid 7 out of 10 myself; it would have been 9 if Spike hadn't started singing. (Seriously, that did not need to happen.)

I liked spike singing this time because he actually had an idea of which word was supposed to come next. Of course, what wouldve been even better, if he had given Rarity the guitar as a present, and being a Starcaster, she couldve Kissed him in return.

This shouldve been Episode 200.
Hmm, thats something, Apples are a given, and we even had Acorn Research Machines, but I missed the shoutout that I thought had occured in every other episode before and which was probably just as blatent and Ill slap myself when its pointed out.
Then again, in this case blatent is a picture of King Tut, A Pie, A Chessboard, and plumbing as representations.
Need to watch it again while Im not as sleepy.
I didnt think sheeps wool was all that flammable? Expecially when its Nomex?

So, does this mean that Spike canonically has a horrible singing voice?

I hope they give her a cameo where she finds somepony.
I was pleasantly surprised to see they roped Discord into the episode too. The whole reindeer thing was a bit left field, but interesting and clever. My only real complaint was the glaring lack of Celestia and Luna. I wanted to see more of them squabbling like sisters, although the one moment we had was adorable. I'm with you on Derpy. Her voice was way different from 'Slice of Life', almost like how she sounded after Derpygate happened. Maybe they were going for the dumb blonde stereotype? And was it me, or were her eyes less derpy than normal?
Overall, I liked it. A nice Christmas lesson that also shows that you don't need a near world ending disaster to teach a friendship lesson.
Also, that Winterchilla, I want one. I don't care if it goes all gremlins in the night, it's adorable.
I'll admit that Derpy was "off" in this special, compared to Slice of Life. To me, her voice in SoL was flowed smoother than it did here. She was still adorable.
Also, did not expect the "Marblmac not happening" thing. I felt really bad about her.
Also also, "Twiley-nanas" is a word now. It has to be a word now. It must happen.
So now we know both Marble and Limestone are desperate for a stallion, right?
