1. If you're looking to stock up on food that lasts a long time, try honey. Honey lasts so long, it has been discovered amongst ancient ruins in an edible state. Honey is the only edible food for humans that has no expiration date; it literally never goes bad.

2. When you look up at the night sky and see stars, but large black empty spaces between them, you are not actually seeing empty space. The light from the stars and galaxies in these areas is just not visible to you under certain conditions (i.e. light pollution). However, if you've ever wondered if there is an area in space with nothing within, you can wonder no more. The Boötes Void is a scary place; it is an area of space with almost nothing - a few strangely contorted galaxies exist within - nearly 330 million light-years in diameter. This area of emptiness accounts for an astounding 0.27% of the observable universe. It also appears to be growing...

3. Some starfish can change their gender (including reproductive parts) on a whim. There are only a few other known animals that can do this.

4. Sodium, an explosive metal, and chlorine, a poisonous gas, make up ordinary table salt.

5. If you were to bring back every human who ever existed, in the state they died in (age, geographical location, etc.), the Earth's population would exceed 108 billion people. If you were to spread this population evenly across all of Earth's existing land, it would equate to 548.5 people per square mile.

Where do you find these facts? They're so damn informative.

Most of them I just know offhand because I'm a geek. :raritywink: But I do search up some details on stuff before I post it so it's as accurate as possible.

Not only is Sodium explosive and Chlorine poisonous, but the compounds that are mixed together to most easily react to form table salt (NaCl Sodium Chloride) are Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH). The former is a strong acid, and the latter is a strong alkaline base. The byproduct of this reaction is regular distilled water (H2O). So mixing two substances that are lethal if ingested creates two substances that are not only not harmful, but necessary for human life.

Chemistry is amazing!

Well then... The more you know! Chemistry is indeed amazing.

That space place sounds scary.

Wow...did not know that about Starfish.

That's a lot of people
