You know, I've come ro realize something. The Brony fandom is insane at times. The reaction to fame and misfortune, and now this finale? I need a drink.
I'm going to repost what I said last time I talked about Cozy, just for the record.
Now Cozy Glow, lot of talk on the episode discussion forums for School Raze (Quite a few of it consisting of bitching between LS, Zimmerwald and Alpha-what's his face whom I can never care to remember) about crap that's not really related to the episode by this point. Seriously y'all, just ignore the trolls and stop feeding them eh? Real turn off for the rest of us eh.
...Now, where was I? Oh, right... Cozy Glow. Sweet looking little filly, and that's the root of the problem right here, people taking issues that a filly (Yeah, I was surprised too. Have we gone dark enough to finally introduce Grogar?) was sent to Tartarus. I admit, at first I thought Cozy was Queen Chrysalis in disguise after revenge against Starlight, but after seeing the Mean Six and seeing Chrysalis can't hold her composure around Starlight for even a few seconds, unlike Cozy that theory was soundly tossed. Now, I suspect if it was a full-grown pony nobody would be so up in arms, but let's count up Cozy's crimes shall we?
First and foremost, stealing all the magic in Equestria including that of the Princesses. Yeah.
Secondly, she showed no remorse about any of this.
Thirdly, she wanted to be sent to Tartarus as part of her master plan.
Can we go back to the first crime? Yes, stealing magic from the Princesses like the Storm King and Tirek did. Hell, Cozy actually seemed to be conspiring with Tirek. That alone would be cause for concern. I'm still agape on how people think she can be redeemed by this point. I mean, committing what's basically treason and enjoying it, and wanting to be sent to the pony underworld of sorts should alone speak volumes about her sanity.
I swear y'all wouldn't be so nuts if Cozy was a full grown mare... Probably. Now if you excuse me, I have some Miraculous Ladybug episodes to watch.

To me, the word "insane" implies out of the expected. The reactions from this episode, I think, are to be entirely expected from a certain sect of the fandom.

Well it is obvious that the writers where trying to "subvert expectations” with Cozy Glow. The problem is that thanks to several poor writing choice by professional writers in other places that will not be named, have soured some fan expectations across the board.

There isn't such a thing, but quite a few people in this fandom expect one and get all bent out of shape when the writers fail to meet their impossible expectations.

Not really, there are several ML stories on this site, and if I knew how to make it work, I'd probably do one as I love both shows to pieces. Some parts of the fandom could use some improvement as previously noted, but the shows are fine.

I think we are talking about two different things in when discussing the problems with Cozy Glow. I was referring to how decisive some characters have become in recent movies, like Batman in Batman vs Superman or Luke Skywalker was in The Last Jedi. The debates on how both characters where in these movies compared to how the fandom expects them to react is causing a split.
Fan fic authors are a whole another basket and is neither here nor there.

Okay, let's line things up shall we? Cozy conspired with a known terrorist, to steal Equestria's very lifeblood in it's magic and showed no such remorse in doing so. She reveled in it. She succeeded in stealing all of Equestria's magic, the very thing that makes it function in the first place. Pegasi, sorry no more flight for you. Unicorns, sorry can no longer perform spells of any sort. Earth Ponies, no way to keep Equestria's plant life and crops from growing. And that's not to mention all the other creature's lives she took apart, like reducing Cerebus, the guardian of Tartarus to a normal dog. If that were the case permanently, like Cozy would have probably kept it, god knows what would have escaped. Cozy showed no remorse and didn't even care about the consequences of her actions. She just wanted power.
I think it's fairly safe to say that she pretty much had everything that came to her, not to mention she actually wanted to be put in Tartarus in the first place if the ending is any indication, which is a bigger worry really.
