Sunset Shimmer's Villain Song · 6:29am Jul 30th, 2018
I present something that clearly should have been in the first Equestria Girls:
(original)
Well, you've got your element and you've got your pretty wings
And you're such a rising star
dancing on your strings
But don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire
Your teacher, she's the Princess--owns a piece of everyone
And you'd rather be there with her
Basking in the sun
But don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire
Your better took your power and tiara through the door
Now you've stepped in my domain--
Not in Kansas anymore
So don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire
Now you've got some friends, and it's more than you deserve
But you'd better watch your step, girl
Better fortify your nerves
So don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire
So don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire
The tempo seems too slow for pre-rainbow-to-the-face Sunset. It's almost serene in a way she very much isn't, though I suppose one could go for a "slow and sinister" approach. And there's always the possible "What's a Kansas?" issue. Still, the central concept is perfect.

I wobbled back and forth on the Kansas issue. I ended up telling myself that there's a Kansas in EQGland and Sunset was dropping the name deliberately in order to be confusing and unsettling to Twilight.
