Duskhoof's Athenaeum - Fallout: Equestria - NEWSHIRE by Quinton Johnson · 11:33pm Jul 25th, 2018
Howdy Wastelanders!
This might just become a new segment in my blogs to y'all, then again it might not, but I'd really like to support some of the other great stories I've read and considerate authors who've helped me and inspired me.
I have to admit I am a bit of a stakeholder for the first story that I am mentioning, as I have aided the writer by providing amateur editing to the third chapter of the story.
"Fallout: Equestria - Newshire" is a project being written by XxQuindieselxX AKA Quin (Quinton Johnson), who is aspiring to write more and is a strong up and coming author.
The story surrounds a cluster of Stables on a fabled and secret island of Newshire, which became overgrown and lost to jungles once the War of Equestria ended in the dramatic manner many of us are oh-so-aware of.
We follow a young zebra-unicorn hybrid called Xileel, Xye to his friend Isu, as he witnesses his Stable opening up for the first time to allow the residents to leave and reclaim the lands lost to time. What they find in the world beyond isn't necessarily what they expected, but armed with new technology developed in the Stable along with a charming digital sprite called Fae, they're prepared to face it...
Newshire first drew my attention because it took a different tone to other Fallout: Equestria stories. It is written as though Fallout happened during the Hunger Games, on Jurassic Park island, in the middle of a term at Hogwarts. The characters are well written and enjoyable, the story is a steady but interesting pace and the ideas are new and exciting.
My only critique is that a relationship between Xye and Solani, an earth mare, occurs very quickly, but this seems to recover later on in the story and becomes a nice, not overwhelming companionship between the two.
Quin is writing at his own pace, and works hard to get the chapters out as quickly as he can whilst still providing the quality of prose the story has provided thus far. He is learning as he writes and this shows as the work progresses. Whilst I do not know what the coming chapters entail, I can say that this is a promising adventure.
If you are looking for a Fallout: Equestria story with a difference, this is it. I whole-heartedly recommend it!
If you'd like me to critique your work, please get in touch via a quick message with a link! I can't promise to read or review everybody's story (I have a life, sorry!) but I will certainly try my best to review as many as I can. This will be an adhoc thing whenever I have a spare hour.
Thank you again for reading up to this moment. Ask me anything.
If this is when you stop reading, goodbye and safe travels.
If you're still strapped in for the ride, see you in the next chapter.
I volunteer as tribute!
All good things,
Duskhoof
I love all that you do for me. I truly feel like I don't deserve all that you do without me even asking. Just want to thank you for everything and your support asking with others goes a long way. 👍❤

You’re always welcome.
Writing is a passion project and it takes guts and determination not only to put it out for others to read but to keep going when it’s easier to stop and give up.
Keep up the hard work and the rewards will come, all good things,
Your buddy, Duskhoof.
