    Remember Obscure Spike Shippings?

Remember when obscure Spike shippings that were met with middling reviews and a lot of confused interest popped out of this account like every few months?

Remember Spike stories that felt like they could have an entire pop-punk album written based on them?

My Thoughts on Yakity-Sax (s8e14) · 7:12pm Jul 20th, 2018

Asuh, dudes.

Gotta admit, it was nice getting some pony back earlier than expected. It wasn't perfect, but it was cool all the same. Anyhow, for my review on the new episode, check below! Minor spoilers will be prevalent.

So, this episode was a thing.

The basic idea is that Pinkie Pie picks up a new instrument and sucks at it pretty hard. Like, really hard. Hard to the point where her friends couldn't deal with it anymore and had to tell her to stop. Then clinical depression ensues and so on.

So, as far as content goes, there wasn't anything new explored here. A basic message about the difference between enjoying something and being good at something and having supportive friends. Been there, done that. So, on that note, I don't really have much to say.

What I do have something to say about, though, is the fact that this episode had a lot of great dialogue humor. The character intereactions were funny, fresh and very enjoyable to watch. It took what was an ultimately predictable episode and gave it some life it wouldn't have had otherwise. A particular section where nobody wanted to tell Pinkie she sucked and the characters kept passing the bad news buck off to each other got me pretty good.

All that being said, it was a fun episode, but not a game-changing one. It didn't do anything new and felt a bit meh at times, but it did do its job rather well.

Final Score: 6.5/10

True, but it was an official release, so I made an exception. :moustache:

I liked the aftermath comic to Pinkie Pie finding out RD doesn't like Pie, and she decides she needs to 'fix' RD not liking Pie. And RD turning the tables on her when RD shoves RD's tastes down Pinkie's throat.
