I said I had a lot of news this week. This is part of it.
So, those of you who have run into me at various places online may know that a few months ago I let drop that after Shadow of an Empire released (Which it did on June 1st of this year!) I would be once again looking into the possibility of print copies of Colony at last.
Well, I have done so. And unfortunately … I’ve got some bad news.
Colony is just too long.
Well dang. It's funny, the problems one runs into. Writing so much book that it's physically impossible to contain in a single binding.
A shame that making a box set isn't really an option. Does it really need the box for both "volumes" to be sold as a single item?

So, here's how it works, and where the issue arises. If I want it sold as a set, I have to package it myself. And that would still leave a "volume 1" and "volume 2" up on a store page, which would in turn lead to sales issues (basically the challenge of selling two volumes at once) and angry reviews from people who didn't get that they were supposed to be one volume. A box set would also end up costing more, which would lower the chance of sales further.
"Too much bang for your buck" is actually a real sticking point for sales, it turns out.
