My Episode Review on “Rollercoaster of Friendship” · 3:17am Jul 9th, 2018

What's up, guys? How's it going today?

I saw “Rollercoaster of Friendship” recently, and I thought it’d be nice to express my thoughts on it to you all.

Here's the summary of it:

Rarity (played by Tabitha St. Germain) and Applejack (played by Ashleigh Ball), having been previously hoping that all two of them would get a job at the theme park as caramel-apple servers, suddenly find their friendship tested when only Rarity is hired and Applejack's application is declined. And, instead of a caramel-apple server, Rarity is hired as the theme park's costume designer by internet sensation Vignette Valencia (played by Tegan Moss), whom (unknown to the rest of the park's residents) has motives that can very well endanger the lives of every other resident in town.

Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash (also played by Ashleigh Ball), Fluttershy (played by Andrea Libman), Pinkie Pie (also played by Andrea Libman), Twilight Sparkle (played by Tara Strong), and Sunset Shimmer (played by Rebecca Shoichet) try to have some fun at the theme park, but end up running into some misadventures along the way.

Fun Fact about this review, really, is that this is the first time I've done an analysis on a specific episode of a series.

Anyway...

I thought it was an interesting episode, there was lots of great comedy, and it was a perfectly character-driven plot if I may say. I especially enjoyed the focus on Applejack & Rarity.

However, I do think that the way everyone is interacting with each other needs to be toned down a little bit? It’s nothing personal, but, there were certain things about the way each character interacted, such as Rarity & Applejack, that made me a little uncomfortable. It especially got me wondering if Confalone’s intention is either to teach friendship or to promote homosexuality to straight people to make them become gay. I have felt the same way with some parts of “Forgotten Friendship” & FiM’s “The Break Up Break Down”, as well as the book series written by Michael Vogel & Nicole Dubuc.

My only other issue comes in the form of Vignette Valencia, because again...

As a villain, she just wasn’t very original, new, different, or fresh. Like the other villains, I enjoyed how she was made as an individual character, especially her personality & comedic timing.

But...

Overall, the outcomes with her, especially what her intentions were, and getting reformed in the end...

Give you the feeling that it’s the same thing over and over again, and it kind of makes me think that a brony like me and all you guys out there could do a lot better than the actual show staff when it comes to storytelling & villains.

To Nick Confalone and the rest of the EG staff, all I’d like to ask is...

Please.

Please, just try to create a villain that’s completely new, different, fresh, and original from the previous villains next time.

Not just for me, but, for everyone else too.

What’s wrong with creating more villains like that of Lord Tirek, Queen Chrysalis, the Storm King, King Sombra, and the Dazzlings?

I suppose I could also pray that you guys keep your heads together, and try not to do anything too...unsettling.

In the end, "Rollercoaster of Friendship" was at the most a rather neutral episode for me.

So, I rate this Equestria Girls episode three out of five stars.

Well, I’ve said my piece. Please tell me what you guys think of this review, as well as your own thoughts on “Rollercoaster of Friendship”.

I honestly didn't see any gay references, simply a reconciling of true friendship.

If they do add an LGBTQ character, which i highly doubt, they will be inviting an EXTREMELY unwanted controversy.

That’s what I’m wanting to think about the whole thing as well. Just friendship, and nothing more.

And you’re definitely right about the controversy thing.

What do you think about my thoughts on when it comes to EG’s villains?

I agree wholeheartedly. MORE than anything for me I want a villain that truly CAN'T be redeemed, like the storm king. A villain that dies unrepentant.

Me too. Perhaps even a banishment, like with Tirek.

I would also love to see a villain that for once isn’t some female human corrupted by Equestrian magic.

I still need to watch the special, but I'll think it'll be fine to me.

I sure hope they keep a few more villains like Chrysalis and Tirek as a villain forever or they won't be special anymore.

I also heard that there were quite a lot of Rarijack shippers who saw the special. In my opinion, through all the episodes, movies and specials I've watched, I don't think Rarity and Applejack are a lesbian couple but just two good friends who are very close.

Me too.

I often think the same thing with everypony else, like Lyra and Bon Bon.

just ignore those people. Sexuality has NO place in a show like this.
