Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom · 4:23am Jun 27th, 2018
I'm not the kind of person who would be the most in-depth, rabid fan of any nostalgic franchise. Star Wars is a series I grew up with, yet I can be reasonable when people disagree with how I think it could be better/worse. This also applies to the Muppets, Transformers, Duck Tales, and a few others.
The reason I say this is because while I am completely familiar with the story, characters, themes and messages of the Jurassic Park franchise, I have only today been able to see a movie in full. Most of my exposure to the series beforehand has been through parodies, reviews, and a choice few recommended fanfictions. But as of yet? I have not seen the full of the original trilogy, nor even the first of the new era. But today I bought a ticket and went to experience the entirety of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
My humble opinion as a (relative) newcomer to the series?
I found it to be an enjoyable, thrilling, thoughtful and whimsical film. The characters are simple, but deep and likable, and the dynamics between them is natural and believable. The story is also relatively straightforward, but carries a genuinely uncomplicated charm that isn't forced or heartless. The score is fantastic, the comedy is solid, and more than a few of the thrills had me almost thoroughly invested. And the themes of the series- as well as this single film -are well-handled. If you can stand some mild PG-13 "gore" and a few scares here and there, then I recommend this film.
Is it outstanding? Not really, but I'd say it's a great movie.
7/10: A.D. Recommended.
:-)
did I have something more to say?
Ah, well. Guess I forgot.
I can't help it though.
THE URGE
AGHHH
FIRST
I was honestly surprised when it turned out that Mayzie herself was a clone.

We need to talk.
4890453
That was a legitimate surprise, I'll openly admit. Really made her decision at the end make more sense than just "she be a kid" logic.

:-)
he sees you
its a normal, totally not creepy statement right there
Completely off topic but what would you say if someone offered you this?

4890463
I'd freeze.
4890550
I said what would you say not do.
4890564
Probably something along the lines of "I-uh... I appreciate the offer, but I doubt I can ever afford it."
4890578
You're still misunderstanding my point, what would you say if Starlight became an Alicorn?
4890619
Really? Your original phrasing made it seem that you were talking about someone offering me the plush toy.
As for what I'd say if Starlight became an Alicorn: "it's about dang time"
4890661
Apologies if the phrasing confused you like that. Perhaps I should have been a bit more clear.
Yeah, that would also pretty much be my reaction as well. She is best pony after all.
I'm just reading all the spoilers because I can
I will probably see it soon
4890691
Well, it's the kind of movie that's just as good with the spoilers in mind as it is without them, I think.
4890694
No regrets either way
Never really been interested in it myself. It's like, things didn't work out in the first one, right? Everything went horribly wrong?... So why do they keep making more movies where people make the same mistakes?
Never seen any of 'em, though my sister did turn on the first one once with no sound and i made up what people were saying.
4890931
I get that.
Though from what I've seen, I think it's actually different mistakes in each movie.
Jurassic Park: owner being satisfied with improper preparations for containment of these creatures
Jurassic Park II: trying to move the wild animals to a zoo in a densely populated city
Jurassic Park III: people vacationing on the wrong island, rescue operation ensues
Jurassic World: being better prepared for successful containment, but messing around with genetics too much while being unprepared for the results
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom: being too greedy with your new gene-manipulating powers
That actually sounds really fun! I think my brother and sister did something similar with the Revenge of the Sith.
4890935
What did they do with Revenge of the Sith.
4891016
They muted the movie, and tape-recorded their own ad-libbing overtop of the characters' lip movements.
Wish we still had that tape, honestly. I don't remember much about it, only that it was funny.
4891129
That sounds really funny.
4890935 Yes, there was talk of Farmville... and dinosaurs on the moon...
4891560
Add that to the list of conversations that I wish I was in on.
Remember that sad scene where a Brachiosaurus is left behind on a devastated island? That scene made me cry because I remember that poor dinosaur from the original Jurassic Park.
