Actual good fic this time, promise.

Everyone should know about Cloud Wander, if for no other reason than he penned the fabulously hilarious "Tonight I Shall Be Laughter", winner (if I'm not mistaken) of the Happy Luna contest. Seriously, go read that too.
But to the Boneyard. What happens when a bunch of primordial skeletons are reanimated by accidental magic? Honestly, that's not overly important. What is important is that this story features a trio of fabulous characters, lots of laughs, some very intriguing musing on subjects like earth pony magic and Equestria's prehistory, and a heartwarming ending. Though fittingly Halloweeny, this is not a scary story, and though tagged [Comedy], nor is it "comedic horror", of the sort disallowed in EQD's horror fic contest.
Mostly, what I like about this story is Bill. While not in possession of a good pony name, his earnest simplicity in pursuit of learning magic (and, no doubt, impressing Twilight) engendered in me nothing but sympathy. I could not help rooting for him, and of course that helped my enjoyment of the story, since he sets everything in motion.
Apparently, Bill and his friends are long-standing characters of Cloud Wander's, so I'm off to read more of his work. Obviously, I should have done this sooner.
Mmm. Yep, love those guys. "Joshing" was one of the earlier fics I read in the fandom.
Looks interesting. "Tonight I Shall Be Laughter", was excellent, so I'm a little surprised I haven't read any of his other stuff. I will give it a read.

That was my thought exactly after I found out who I was reading.
All his stuff is in my to-read list now. :B

Just finished it, and soooo many feelings right now.
Also, thanks for the heads up on The Boneyard, it was pretty awesome too.
