....... It sucked. Episode review over. I'm not spending a lot of time here......
Okay, I'll talk about it but I won't enjoy it. Going into this episode, I knew that would be the case. You all want to know why? Because Applejack/Rainbow team up episodes always suck. Those two are just as bad a match up as AJ is with Rarity. I don't even know why. It's just that it seems that AJ can't have a good episode with either of those two because they either fall into 'competing' or 'country/city girl'. It's all one note and droll and makes me question why anyone ever bloody ships either. (With the added bonus of Rarity is straight....) I don't even know why I'm talking about that. Oh yes, this episode was boring. I literally couldn't wait for it to be over. I was just tapping my arm hoping for it to either get good or end. I don't remember the last time an MLP episode has ever made me do that. Congrats. Coupled with having to sit through this accursed team up, it felt more like a chore I had to go through then an event I wanted to do.
It didn't help that this was basically the second major appearance of the kids. I mean in that they actually get lines. The school idea is still a concept I'm really not happy with. At least, not for this season. I mean, I know I said this before, but we still haven't really explored much of the map yet and Origin Six haven't even gotten one episode! Oh yes, there will probably be two or three with them but why can't they be the focus, huh? Why couldn't we have a season about the history of Equestria and the cultures each of them grew up in. No, it's school and so far it is not done well but then again, the season isn't doing much with it.
The kids aren't bad themselves, but again, because of how bloated it is having so many characters on screen together, they feel... one note. The only one I actually really enjoy and find a compelling character is Ocellus the changeling. No joke, she's really adorable, well written, and her powers are extremely interesting. She's the only one I've really gotten attached to and I sincerely hope she gets a spotlight episode or two before the series ends. Crossing my fingers.
So yeah, boring episode. The only saving grace was the ending where the students think AJ and Rainbow were doing all of that on purpose to teach them how not to do teamwork. It legitimately made me laugh, I will not lie. So this episode isn't without some worth. However, everything else was droll besides that and Ocellus. I honestly don't know why season 8 is just so boring. I have only found two episodes this season to be great. The rest have been either okay or kind of aggrivating to some degree. I can't tell if it is because the writers have run out of steam this season or since the show is ending, just not giving their usual all. I mean, seasons 5-7 were the best ones. Why should they falter now? I'm really hoping the rest of this season turns out better. I really, really do. I want this series to end on a great note. Still, even if season 8 isn't all that cracked up we still have season 9.

I didn't even watch it, but researched it on TV Tropes. It annoyed me to read it. I am three seasons, three EG movies, and a movie behind. I think I left off Season 6 Episode 4 as my last fully watched episode. Starting to drift. Currently in the Pokemon fandom reading fictions

The rest of season 6 and certainly season 7 (with season five being my favorite) are full of gems and I would recommend them genually, the same for the movie.... skip the EQG stuff. I do and it saves me a lot of headaches. As for season 8, yeah, just watch the Starlight/Sunburst and Celestia episodes. I'd also recommend the CMC episode about the Hippogryphs and Maud's episode. While not great, they still had some merits.
Of course, I'm a die hard fan of the show and I might as well watch every episode at least once. I'm in too deep as it is.
