Daughters of Glimmer, a story about Starlight taking the mane six and raising them as her own daughters. I'll repeat what I've said for the authors' note: To those who have been waiting, I apologize. A lot of things has happened in my life, and I haven't been able to get to this one. But, I feel that I should continue this for whoever still wants to read further.
This story will in fact continue, and I hope you enjoy it!
I just wanted to say that I'm happy that you decided to resurrect this story. I actually referenced it in a blog I wrote only a couple of months ago about how sad it is when an interesting story is abandoned or dies from neglect. Glad to hear your life will be allowing you to continue the tale.

So, I'm curious: did you start this story with an ending in mind, or have you just been feeling your way along from the initial scenario?

I had a goal in mind, but with each chapter some things change. I know what the endgame is, but some events that pop up alters the course a little bit.

I actually gave your story a look because its scenario is kind of a mirror image of mine (e.g. In mine, Starlight turns herself into a child in order to work through some of her childhood traumas, while Twilight indulges her naturally maternal side), so I was curious if you had an overall plan.

That sounds cute! And yes, I have a plan. It's good to have at least a small inkling of one, and if you don't, just keep writing, sometime will always come when you're in it.

Well, I'm writing my first fic, and I outlined the major plot points and act structure before I began. I've made adjustments along the way, of course, but I didn't start writing before I drew a general map of the story. I have the major landmarks clearly in mind, but sometimes struggle to find the path to each one.

Getting from point A to point B can be frustrating. Think of yourself as the reader and imagine where you'd like to see the story go, and maybe expand on that. I also recommend spending time not thinking too much about it, so when you return back to it, your brain isn't fried.

Well, that's generally how I do it. I also tend to run through the chapter in my head a lot before I actually begin the writing process. I don't do a huge amount of revising because I've already mentally written about four drafts. I also have a good editor who keeps me from falling down my own navel when I don't notice that a character's emotional reaction doesn't quite make sense.

I can't say I enjoy the twist the story took with the truth coming out and the reveal Starlight's attempt to give ponies equal magical standing backfired hideously, but hopefully the tale will continue to be interesting.
