Status report on the latest chapter

Hi all,

Here’s how things have shaped up with chapter 7:

Initially, I’d hoped to write one long chapter wherein Starlight and Lula meet the rest of their team and then move through the bulk of Field Day’s events. However, just as I underestimated what it’d take to get Trixie on board with the plan, just meeting the other kids and what that leads to became pretty huge on its own. Remember how I like to aim for 5000 word chapters? Well, I’m at 5600 words in chapter 7, and still probably have at least 3000 more to write.

I’d hoped to finish it all this weekend, but something my pre-reader pointed out led to a very productive tête-à-tête, and so while the end of the chapter may take me an extra day or two, I think our conversation really helped to fix a bit of fuzziness in its conception. It was actually only a few days ago that the final scene of the chapter really fixed itself in my mind.

So, just be patient a bit longer. As I’ve mentioned before, this is my first fanfic, so dealing with the more difficult parts have been a bit challenging. But I have a feeling you’ll find it as enjoyable as the previous chapters.
