Fascination with points of inflection · 10:42pm Mar 26th, 2018
So I've been reading fanfiction since I was a 10 year old, and I've gone through a whole bunch of fandoms. Started out mainly with Anime, then got pretty involved with Sci-fi, took a pitstop with Alternative history, and then the last couple years I've had a fascination with fics that turn a seemingly childish story, or plot points, and explores what they mean from a more grown up perspective.
I actually got into the Pony fandom very recently, thanks to a crossover fic on another forum, as well as the Humans & Ponies style fics, the ones written as first contact stories. From there though, I watched the series on Netflix, and once that was done, I accidentally found the EQG movies on there as well.
As I watched there were just so many moments I wanted to either explore more, or which I asked myself 'What-if' ponies reacted as reasonable human adults, or 'want of a nail'. For some reason I have a fascination with imperfect characters such as Luna, Trixie Lulamoon, Starlight Glimmer, and Sunset Shimmer. These guys had moments, that if only a bit different, would have made the whole series so different.
Equestria Girls in particular, has a couple points that would be awesome for 'what-ifs'. My two favorite being when Sunset initially arrives on earth, and right after getting hit by the rainbow blast to the face. So much so, that I've actually broken my years' long lurking streak across multiple fandoms to try writing things myself in the hope others will feel inspired to also write.
