And it's been one hell of a trip, took a lot of pictures of the dioramas my mother and her sisters made. Found out quite a bit about my grandfather, namely his report cards, his kill count of mice, and just how many mouse traps, pocket knives (two of which are in my possession), poking sticks (we joked that he could've been a zombie hunter, a la Abraham Lincoln; Vampire Hunter), and cigarette boxes (one in my possession now).
We'll never know what killed him, but it's more likely a combination of his heart condition and either the flu (which already has claimed quite a few lives or so I've heard) or bacteria coming in through the calluses on his hands as the last he ever talked to me over the phone during Christmas Time. We can breath easy that there wasn't a murder (the police would've seen something).
It wasn't exactly the full closure I wanted TBH; The two youngest of my first cousins are still obnoxious (one of them almost cut his father's hand with a switchblade). My brother couldn't come over, perhaps because he got drunk the night before he was supposed to catch the train. It infuriates me, but after hearing my dad's eulogy, I could at least give him one of the knives, a small photo of Grandpa and Grandma just before I was born, and one of his two dollar bills. Still can't imagine what Mom and Dad will do when they get back; just reserving the room for just two of us nearly cost two hundred dollars.
I took pictures of inside the house, around the house, and the neighborhood my family once lived before moving to Kansas City (looong before MLP: FIM started). At least that's a sense of closure, for now, it might not be possible to return as Grandpa's estate gradually being sold out. If I'm lucky, I might have several panoramas in the process.
There is quite a bit to do this week; I might hold off commissions just this one last week, but that's just me, and is subject to change.
