A moment to remember an actor

    W. Morgan Sheppard was an actor who appeared in many genre movies and TV series. Star Trek, Doctor Who, Babylon 5, even anime voice acting. However, the role I best remember him for was in the 1980's TV series Max Headroom, where he played Blank Reg. Reg was an aging punk rocker running a tiny pirate TV station from a caravan parked on the outskirts of the city. He was one of the best characters

Merry Christmas, Everyone! No, I'm Not Dead!

Well, *that* month was hellish. Let's try not to do that again.

    Hi everyone,

I'm alive, the car is fixed, the mortgage paid, and bank account looking a bit more positive. Let's hope I don't have to go through quite so much stress for the next few months at least. Which brings us back to the question I'm sure is on the minds of my small cadre of loyal readers:

When the heck is the next chapter coming?

    What's the story, JD?

    Hi everyone,

So, you're probably wondering what's taking so damn long with the next chapter. Well, to put it simply, life happened. I ran into a money crunch combined with a bunch of new expenses. I've actually taken to driving a ride share to earn extra cash, and it was working out really well...till the AC compressor in my car blew.

    Yes, I'm still alive.

    Hi everyone.

I know you all haven't heard from me in a bit, but rest assured that I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth. I just had a whole bunch of grownup problems hit in the last couple of months and it's left me no time to do any writing.

Just hang on a bit longer. Once I get through chapter 8, it'll get a lot easier for me in terms of moving the story along.

A Promise To You, The Readers... · 3:13pm Feb 28th, 2018

Hello from Torremolinos, Spain, everyone!

As I recover from jet lag and wait out the rain that's falling here, I was checking out one of the stories here on FiM Fiction. It was called Daughters of Glimmer, and it popped up on the recommended bar to the right of Rebuilding. It was fairly well written and I was interested in seeing where it went. Then I saw that dreaded "incomplete" tag, and that the last update had been in December of 2016.

Another abandoned fanfic.

That's the problem with this stuff, and one of the things that kept me away from it for so long. When you write for fun, you soon realize that it can be hard work turning out something that passes muster for you. It can be very easy to just let the story lie there and then die from neglect. And it takes a certain amount of faith on the part of the reader to follow a long story that's nowhere near completion.

So, while you're all waiting for the next update, I felt I wanted to say something. I promise you that this story will be completed, and that I'm not just going to leave it to die. I'm writing this now because this morning, after waking up in darkness at 5 AM, I got to thinking about an idea for a bonus chapter once I'd completed this main story.

I know what my ending will be. I know what leads up to that ending. Hell, I pretty much have all the details worked out for the second and third acts. I just have to get through this first act, and then I think it's all downhill.

So, I'm making a public commitment to seeing this through. There are apparently a couple of hundred of you out there who have liked this story enough to save it to your libraries. For your sake, I'll make certain you'll have a whole story in the end.
