When I saw the trailers, I worried it would be a cross between "The Book of Life" and "Meet the Robinson's." And would therefore suffer the same fate as "Brave" or "The Good Dinosaur."

Turns out to be true to reviews. In fact, several moments had me in tears and had one of the biggest twists ever shown.

I recommend seeing it if you already haven't already seen it. I didn't see the Frozen short, but it's for the better. I've heard some bad things about it that I've yet to see myself.

It's very rare to see a live symphony play a movie score in tune to the actual movie. In my first visit to Bartel Hall, and the first symphony I've ever attended, I got the privilege. And it was beautiful. Admittedly, the Oogie Boogie sections don't have as much jazz, but the Nutcracker was playing as well so they had to sacrifice something.

Now I'm hoping for something from a James Horner symphony; starting out from films like "The Pagemaster" or "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story" before going to something like "Titanic."

It was a real treat, and one I hope to experience again.
