Eugh, I hate to do this. · 10:02pm Nov 29th, 2017
Hey guys,
I wanted to fill you in with a quick (and sad) update.
I'm afraid I've hit a bit of a writer's block for everything, and so I'll have to take my first hiatus. I'm fighting to get back my writing inspiration, but it'll take time, considering that my first semester finals are just around the corner. The good news is that I'll be restructuring the way I write during this break, so I should come out of it a better writer in the end.
Anyways, I'll still be hanging around the site even if I'm not writing. Feel free to send me a PM or jump on Uria and I's discord chat to talk about things. Fresh ideas are always the best way to jumpstart writing. In the meanwhile, I'm ordering up a bunch of writing books to help pump-up my writing skills. Hopefully, they can help!
Writer's block sucks. Hopefully it will clear up quickly.
I know how that feels.
My story hasn't updated for a long time because I lost the spark. I just sort of let it slide and let it slide, and eventually I lost sight of my inspiration for it. I think I know how to get it back, but I always have so much going through my head and so many things I've got to do (getting insurance, looking for a better job, daily and weekly stuff) that I just don't seem to have time to write. So I wound up putting it off until the pilot light went out, and now the time to relight it never seems to come.
You're not alone in seeking help from books, either. Got any in particular you've got your eye on? I recently bought "How to Be a Writer" by Barbara Baig, myself. Can't seem to get past chapter 3, but I'm trying.

Mine is a mixture of plot-shaping books as well as mythology books from around the world. The mythology books are a bit random, but they're a new place for me to look. Usually reading something new and getting passionate again breaks me out of it.

Same here, now if I could just do it then I could get back to writing. The story I've got up is kind of a bad concept, which is the other reason I'm not as passionate about it. I've got a better one in the works, and a huge part of my inspiration for it is Irish mythology.
If you want to read some Japanese myths, Yokai.com is a great place to go. There are a lot of entries.
