    July 1st 2020 - Update

Well, well, well. Here I am! Sorry about the gap in blog posts (again). Been on more of a mental self-care. What with the world basically crumbling around us day by day. So you know, that's been what is keeping me so busy. That and trying to find a job, too. The good news is... my mental health has finally stabilized (for now). Found out what was causing my issues which was just one big well of

The True Nightmare ~ Replication - Repost

As promised I have set Replication for a repost. Auto-approval this time so it doesn't take all day. But regardless, I know I haven't made it much further than the previous chapter length, but, oddly enough, reposting it again has... oddly peaked a small little fire once more. Honestly I feel like I could return to this story very soon. And that's not just to sound like I'm puffing air out my

The Long Awaited Update + Info on the Current Situation

So! Just as I was feeling up to put up a blog, it seems like the world decided to lose its collective shit at the last possible moment. But as for how I'm doing? This'll be a short blog but I'll get the writing stuff out of the way before the important stuff.

FIMFiction Review #8 Tirek is Doomed by Viking ZX · 8:50pm Nov 27th, 2017

Hey there, everybody! It's about time I started doing my reviews again and what better way to get back into the scene then by starting off with explosions! And lots and lots of gore! Highly gratuitous but satisfying gore! Let us have a look inside the story by a very well known author. Here is Tirek is Doomed by Viking ZX.

Description

Twilight's power, along with that of Celestia, Luna, and Cadance, has been claimed by Tirek. Drunk on power, the demon-centaur is unleashing destruction upon Equestria, his reign of terror just beginning.

But there is hope. A crystalline chest, a gift from the Tree of Harmony, able to be opened by six keys. Keys which Twilight has now claimed the last of. All they can do is hope, hope that whatever is contained inside the chest is enough to stop Tirek.

And then something goes wrong ...

Concept

I don’t know why but while I have never played any of the DOOM games prior to reading this, Tirek is Doomed caught my eye because of the fact that I heard so much about the character in this game. While he’s just a mute who goes around killing demons for endless amounts of gore, just the thought of him coming to the MLP universe and stomping down on an all-powerful Tirek made me feel a little excited and so I thought it was an interesting idea that would have made for a very fun reading experience.

Plot

While the plot itself isn’t rocket science the whole idea is that the girls thought they would have gotten something like the Rainbow Powers we saw in the canonical event. However, something goes wrong and it creates a portal to some other world and from it the DOOM Guy comes out. He then proceeds to do everything in his power to stop Tirek and revert him back to his original state. Which of course can be summed up as this.

Gratuitous and violent gore. Honestly I really enjoyed watching DOOM Guy beat the everliving shit out of Tirek. I’ve ready this story so many times now that I just love each and every brutal wound or injury that DOOM Guy gives Tirek. I mean it ends happily for all parties involved and is even a satisfying end for DOOM Guy who is stuck in Tartarus and gets to pummel every single demon that resides in MLP’s version of Hell.

Setting

The story’s setting itself is during the end of season 4’s finale. But, of course, with a twist of DOOM Guy’s interaction with the finale.

Characters

Most of the characters here were done pretty well. Everybody was in character but what impressed me the most was the characterization of DOOM Guy. Like… my god. Viking didn’t even use a single line of dialogue for him but through describing his actions and feelings about what he was doing in the moment. I can’t even fully describe how much I enjoyed this. To see a character being described so perfectly, and being able to feel and even see how he felt in each moment of his POV.

I actually applauded this the first time around. I’m not even exaggerating. I could go on forever in describing how much I enjoyed Viking’s characterization of DOOM Guy. But to save time and sum it up — and finish this section here, DOOM Guy is and was an amazing character throughout the short story.

Technicality

There wasn’t much for any technical issues. Basically non-existent.

Final Review & Score

So in conclusion. This story was quite a fun little adventure. Short but especially worth the time. If I had to say it was the characterization of DOOM Guy that really got me to love the story. To take a character who literally has not talked throughout his entire series and give him a personality, while even not uttering a single word, I mean… I cannot gush about this enough! Everything else worked quite well but it was DOOM Guy who sold me the whole story.

While I don’t got much else to say, I’ll finish it off with the usual number score. Out of all the other adventure fics I’ve read this will have the highest score. So I ended up giving Tirek is Doomed a score of 8.5/10. It did so much with such a simple character that I honestly can’t say enough to show how much I liked the premise itself. Plus watching Tirek get his teeth kicked in was also funny in a very violent way. Much like Why No One Messes With Celestia by Scion, I would definitely give this story a recommended read.

So! That’s the end of the review. Hope you liked it and I’ll see you all next time!
