I'm a brony and a Pinkie Pie fan but I like all of the mane six, as well as Spike. I hope to provide some entertaining and interesting fanfics for the Brony community.

    Episode Re-Review: Grannies Gone Wild

Well, Tell Your Tale finally decided to try to do something interesting, because the last episode showed Sunny's mom in a flashback. But they didn't even give her a name, let alone elaborate on what happened to her. And given the way Tell Your Tale progresses, I'm not expecting any follow-up anytime soon. Getting back to G4, Season 8 hit its first stumbling block only four episodes in, and the

Episode Re-Review: Fake It 'Til You Make It

Oh joy, it's back to Season 8. Season 9 has its fair share of detractors, but hardly anyone I know ever sings Season 8's praises, and for good reason. We now know that the School of Friendship was added at Hasbro's request because they wanted the show to wrap up with nine seasons, forcing the writers to change their plans for the pillars. About the only good thing to come out of Season 8 seems to

Special Re-Review: Equestria Girls: Forgotten Friendship

While we now know that this has to take place not just before Season 8 but before the events of the 2017 FiM movie, it first premiered in February of 2018, about a month before Season 8 of FiM hit the airwaves. Interestingly, the Discovery Family broadcast omitted several scenes that were later released as part of an "extended" version. As for the writer, it was none other than Nick Confalone,

    Episode Re-Review: Uncommon Bond

After the absolute disaster that was "Secrets and Pies", Season 7 really needed something to redeem it and give it the chance to go out on a high note, especially now that the big 2017 movie had come and gone, and the show's future was still uncertain. Josh Haber, after having returned to the story editor's chair and ultimately taking back the reigns fully from Joanna Lewis and Kristine Songco

Top Five Weakest Writers of FiM, Version 2 · 3:24am Nov 17th, 2017

Well, considering the new writers of Season 7, I felt this list needed a revisiting and revising. Rest assured that the Top Five Best Writers will get the same treatment tomorrow. Here's the first version, from a season ago. Let's see what changed. And as always, I mean no disrespect to anyone at Hasbro or DHX.

5. Chris Savino (Episodes written: Boast Busters, Stare Master)
Why he moved down: Chris has largely moved down because others have joined the list at higher positions. He apparently went on to write for The Loud House up until recently, when accusations of abuse and bullying began to spread. I haven't kept track of much of the controversy, but apparently it's gotten severe enough to where people on Deviant Art are commenting on it. Pretty much all of what I said about him last time still stands, but now it looks like his writing career may be finished.

4. Kevin Lappin (Episodes written: Honest Apple, To Change a Changeling, Uncommon Bond (Collab with Josh Haber))
Why he was added: Since he collabed with Josh Haber, Kevin managed to stave off the top three, but he's in the same point as David Rapp in that he's living proof that live action drama writers don't work for this show. I dare say, he was even worse than David Rapp initially, because at least David soon got paired up with someone and could be held in check. But it took Kevin until his third episode for that to happen with him, and even then I suspect it was Josh Haber who did much of the work of keeping "Uncommon Bond" good.

3. Neal Dusedau (Episodes written: Princess Spike (Story by Jim Miller and Jayson Thiesen), What About Discord?, Applejack's "Day" Off (Collabed with Michael P. and Will Fox for story))
Why he moved down: Again, he's only moving down because a new writer is joining at a higher position. Neal is a writer I'm glad didn't come back for Season 7, he just hasn't been able to write a good episode and he's had three chances to prove otherwise. Maybe somehow, if he gets someone like Josh Haber to help him, he can improve, but I'm not holding my breath on that possibility.

2. David Rapp (Episodes written: Newbie Dash (Collabed with Dave Polsky for story), Flutter Brutter (Meghan McCarthy credited with story), Where The Apple Lies (Collabed with Meghan McCarthy for story))
Why he moved down: When you see who replaced him for the number one spot, you'll understand why he moved down to number two. It's not that his writing has gotten any rosier in the wake of the lows of Season 7, it's just that someone else managed to do even worse than he did. And considering how Kevin Lappin turned out, I sincerely hope that we won't be seeing more writers like David joining the writing staff for the remaining seasons. These live action writers just don't seem to know the dos and don'ts of animation.

1. Josh Hamilton (Episodes written: Parental Glideance, Triple Threat, Secrets and Pies)
Why he's at the top: Boy, I really hate repeating myself, but it amazes me how someone with such impressive animation credentials, could turn out so poorly for FiM. And that somehow, he just got worse and worse with every episode he wrote. "Parental Glideance" was missing a scene that would've explained why Rainbow Dash is in the wrong, "Triple Threat" turned out to be a disappointing return to the Spike episodes I thought we'd seen the last of after Season 5, and "Secrets and Pies" was barely even a story and what little there was absolutely sucked! To make things even more sad for Josh, a fellow writer with similar credentials (May Chan), started off even weaker than him on this show, but improved greatly in the span of an episode. So if May Chan could turn it all around, why can't Josh Hamilton do the same?

And there you have it. Come back tomorrow, when we'll look at the Top Five Best Writers of FiM again.

I liked Parental Glideance (I think I enjoy seeing Dashie suffer for some reason)

But yeah, I hated Triple Threat. A Spike being an idiot episode combined with the next major appearance of Ember (I don't hate Ember, I just don't like that her next appearance was also in a Spike being a dumbass episode. I couldn't enjoy her presence because Spike's "intelligence" [especially the Cutie Map problem thing. I mean, I was getting killed knowing what the problem was and just sitting there seeing Spike completely swing and miss] stinking up the place)

So far, Gauntlet of Fire remains the only good Ember episode so far.

Why do I get the feeling that the possible next Ember episode in the new season will also suck? :|

My bad for the rant. I'm just...SUPER disappointed by an Ember episode. I can't believe that's a sentence I'm saying. Disappointed by an Ember episode. :|

4727674 I don't know if you can really call it an Ember episode, and even then Ember was actually pretty good. She and Thorax were the best things about the episode, everyone else was in character except for when they wanted to keep up that stupid plot.

Either way, hated the fact that Ember finally meeting Thorax (something I would love to see) happened right next to Spike being a dumbass (something I would hate to see).
