A Look at the Lunar Rebellion · 5:19am Oct 21st, 2017

After a debate with another reading I decided to post my view on why the Lunar Rebellion by Chegar happened.

Let's start at how were things before the rebellion. Unlike most universes the governments that existed before Equestrian did not dissolve just adapted. And remained so till Discord and afterwards the sisters took over. Luna Pegasopolis, Celestia Unicornia, and both alternated ruling the EPG (Earth Pony Government). Somehow Luna still goes NMM and Celestia has to rule all three alone. But here is where the first problem pops up. Except for a few events she rules Equestria solely from Canterlot, never from the others. As a result she is surrounded by primarily unicorns thus loses the perspective of the other tribes. She should have cycle through the capitals. Like 5 years at Canterlot then move to Manehatten for 5 years then go to Cloudsdale and so forth. This would have prevented the idea that she favored unicorns.

Problem Two: The griffons.
Being a leader of a country means ensuring your nations borders are secure. Now bandits are a fact of life but then several towns are wrecked and Intel says they are three camps which these griffons attack from. Not one but three. From what we can tell there are a coupled hundred griffons bandits using these camps that had become basic towns. Bright considered her options. She didn't have enough troops to protect every town so that was out. She tried to get the Earth ponies to focus on certain towns so she could protect them. But Earth ponies are stubborned and refoptionSo she moves on to the next option. She doesn't have enough troops to defend all the towns but they ate enough to take out the camps and stop the raids for a long time. The would start raiding again but not as often or strong with the camps gone. However Celestia listen to Sunbeam who was not at the borders but has been in Canterlot the same as Celestia. Bright has the clearer picture and what both Sunbeam and Celestia forget is that a treaty is only good if all sides abide by it and the griffons clearly weren't if not only was it three camps large enough to be almost towns but an archduke was in one likely getting bribes to Ignore the camps. That left option three. Getting more pegasi to patrol the border and would have gotten it if not for that last raid. The pegasi left a message. Don't do this again.

Problem three: The clipping
The first mistake here was done by the pegasi. Hammer Striker that clipping is okay. That us either a failure if teaching or unaltered books. The latter very likely since it's difficult to make a book survive in a cloud city but being traditionalist the Strikers failing to teach that it us illegal and considered evil. The next mistake was not ensuring that clippings being taught as illegal nation wide. Sadly the pegasi were not the only ones making mistakes. Celestia biggest one was not taking the proper time to vet her team. And note her team was all unicorns again showing a preference for them over the others. And of that team she made only one correct choice with Radiant Day the other two had clear anti pegasi views. The simple fact that one of them would even suggest that Rightly's late wife and child was a clipping is insane. If she wasn't killed she should have been demoted or fired for making such an accusation without proof. Then after dismissing Sunbeam she wanted to continued the investigation but she no longer had the political capital to keep going plus nothing was found out with that horrible team. So Celestia just lost what goodwill she have had. She should have dropped it considering how toxic it had become.

Problem four: Removal and post.
Now my problem here is manly pegasi. First us excluding Shadow from the meeting on Celestia removal. While they do let her vote, following the letter of the law the violated the spirit of the law by not really allowing her a voice. Sadly most of what Celestia planned was reasonable. Sunbeam's rep!ace ent was going to be one of them who would help her not make the same mistakes and Shadow was the most logical choice. The others could perform this role well (except maybe Swift Blade for his clear anti Celestia stance) but as the latest member of the Ephorate she is already required to go to Canterlot thus will have the easiest time getting into the role. The only thing Celestia should have done was drop the clipping investigation. It was too toxic an issue at the time and she had used up all her political capital to just have the investigation and it blew up in her face.

as for the Ephorate. After removing her from power the started trying to undermine d her rule in the earth pony government and Swift started calling her a tyrant. Okay disagree with her rule but she had done nothing tyrannical but the guy was determined to get rid of Celestia and get Luna aack. Had he not been an ephor perhaps war could have been avoided.

In the and vith sides made errors that lead to the war, many easily avoided
