Random Thought about CHS and EQG · 9:02am Oct 15th, 2017
I have been more or less awayish for a while now. I am maybe possibly working on one of my stories, but as doing so I kind of came to a random thought or question about CHS and EQG. It is unlikely anyone will see this, but I have to write it out anyways. The question is... How many years of school does Canterlot High have? I mean in America we consider High school to be grades 9-12. Even when I take into account DHX is a Canadian company it would still be four years, 9-12, despite it seeming like there is still a lot of time passing since the first movie. Does this mean the CMC are about 14 years old in EQG?
Also what is their school year like? The first movie took place right around what would be the fourth and final year for the Humane six given Sunset Shimmer won the title of Fall Formal Princess three times prior to the movie. She also didn't know what the Friendship Games were so she hadn't experienced them before and also hadn't heard about them given she's from Equestria and doesn't have a human family she would have grown up with. They supposedly happen every four years so again it seems like the girls are in their senior year of high school. At the same time, they attend Camp Everfree during the summer, yet they haven't graduated?
It gets even more complicated if you take into account the three Equestria Girls specials. The whole group are seen raising money for Camp Everfree and doing other things outside of school, but they still meet there sometimes. There is also the fact that there is going to be a YouTube exclusive series starting next year sometime. I know there are plenty of high school animated series that never graduate, but usually they don't seem to take place in the end of the group's final year. They usually just take place vaguely during the high school years without much you can use to figure out the time frame.
Regarding the show and movies I don't really care about the timing of everything, but when I thought about this while writing a conversation between two characters it kind of got to me. If anyone sees this and has ideas feel free to share.
Probably more 6 - 12. Although one could reason it's a pocket dimension with no other cities in it and it's instead an eternal high school loop, where no one *ever* leaves.
