Random blog with a review on Batman: The Killing Joke movie... maybe an update on fics as well...

"This reminds me of a joke. See there were two guys locked in a lunatic asylum and one night. One night they decided they didn't like that anymore. They decided to escape. So they made it up to the roof and there just across this narrow gap they see rooftops stretching across town, stretching to freedom. Now the first guy he jumps right across no problem, but his friend. Oho! No way. He was afraid of falling. So the first guy he has an idea. 'Hey. I have this flashlight with me. I'll shine it across the gaps between the buildings and you can walk across the beam and join me.' But the second guy he says, 'What do you think I am? Crazy? You'll just turn it off when I'm half way across'."
I just watched that earlier today. I pre-ordered it and chose snail mail thinking it would arrive on it's release day anyways. It didn't, but in the end it made for a good watch while I had my Friday Pizza Night.

I actually thought it was really good. I even liked the first 30 minutes everyone was going crazy about across the internet. I'm not familiar with the comics, so I don't know what the Batman/Batgirl relationship is like there. However I was looking around the internet and found out in Batman: The Animated Series or maybe it was Batman: The New Animated Series (which is a continuation of the former) the two of them did actually have a romantic relationship for a while despite everything. I think that is part of the reason why they had that in it. It wasn't until later Batman ended it between them to protect her.

Putting that aside, I really did enjoy Batman: The Killing Joke. Everything was really well done. Even in the first part of the movie, everything else was pretty well done I thought (despite what the internet says) and I liked it. The ending could have been done a little better. I know it is supposed to be left open for interpretation, but they could have handled getting that across better. I am also glad I waited until about half way through the ending credits before stopping it (because of a short scene there). I really get why The Killing Joke is seen as such a great Joker story.

I know I am not a critic or movie expert, but it was really well done and enjoyable. I felt it was a weak "R" rating, but it made sense because of the psychological stuff that goes on in it. It does get intense at points, but they don't really have much that feels more than a strong "PG-13" rating apart from the psychological stuff to me. Also if people have heard about the first 30 minutes and don't like the sound of that, it is something you can easily skip if you want. You do miss out on Batgirl being awesome, though. Still there is a difference between the first part and the second part and they handle it in a way that skipping to the second part won't cause you to miss out on much story wise.

There you have it folks. A review that no one asked for! Lol.

Now for something people here probably might care about... Fic updates... I did post a chapter for my Naruto x MLP crossover fic (The Truth of Bonds and Friendship) recently. I had the chapter for a while and felt people might want to read it. I might throw up another update sometime as well before I finish Rainbow Rocks: Unfinished Business.

Speaking of that fic, I have worked a little on the next chapter. I also know what I want to happen in this chapter as well. I think it will be fun and hopefully others will as well. I just need to actually write it up and make sure it comes off as fun instead of boring. After that chapter, I am a little uncertain where I want to go with the fic. Part of me wants to have a little look to what has been going on in Equestria while Twilight has been in the human world. I would have her and Sunset end up spending time apart as a result if I did that, but it would be at max two chapters with an amount of time passing during those chapters. At the same time, I want to just not bother with that and continue on with what I have planned for this Equestria Girls story. I have good parts of the next chapters regarding this written already if that is the case, including a really important and big part of the story. Either way I will figure something out eventually, but if anyone has thoughts on these matters feel free to share if you want.
