I saw the MLP movie · 1:34am Oct 6th, 2017
I just got out of the theater. Actually not kidding, that was probably the best movie I've seen in four or five years.
Emily Blunt in particular did a S P E C T A C U L A R job with Tempest Shadow's voice acting. Literally, perfection. New ironic pone waifu?
...Maybe. Time will tell. In the mean time, you scrublords better go see the movie.
I'll be seeing this movie later, though I wanted to watch The Lego Ninjago Movie, but since it's perhaps out of theaters, I won't be able to watch it. Since I can only bring my family to watch one movie per month. But at least I'll see the MLP movie
I finally got to see it! I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, though I really missed Discord. The mane six seem to be disappearing from the series, so it was so fun to have the movie focus exclusively on them. The animation was really beautiful, though. That opening scene with the fly-over in Canterlot... wow.
Glad you liked it, Mr. Grant! Best of luck in whatever new fanfiction it inspired you to do

Wouldn't you agree Tempest deserves some cuddles?
I dread going to movie theatres. The volume is always too friggin loud, I hate standing in line, and of course the price is ridiculous. Hell, I'm old enough to remember Saturday afternoon double-features (with a cartoon also!) for 25 cents (from my childhood, but still... also 15 cent candy bars and 10 cent popcorn)! But I talked myself into going to the MLP movie. I regret NOTHING!
I knew I was in for a treat from the opening scene/song! I totally did NOT expect The GoGos, and it was awesome! I really enjoyed the whole experience. The songs were great, less EQG-ish than I expected. Good if somewhat predictable plot, characters really shined, voice acting was uniformly excellent.
Tempest was perfect -- for most of the movie, you wanted nothing more than to throw her in the nearest volcano, but by the end the preferred plan would be to cuddle the hell outta her.
Ebert's review said he was confused and annoyed by the occasional pop-culture references -- too bad! The adult fandom seems to really enjoy spotting them, and I bet they were put in mostly for us (certainly not for the 'target audience').
Yes, the animation style is more disney-esque than the show, but easy to acclimate to, and honestly the facial expressions and body language are more clearly communicated in the 'new' animation (they're really cute, too).
Overall I'm gonna go back again before it goes out of theatres. Then buy the BlueRay and turn the sound up LOUD when I watch it.
TL;DR -- Get Thee To A Theatre Near You!

Does Tempest deserve cuddles?? What kind of question is that?
Does Pinkie Pie love parties? Does Twilight read books? Does Rainbow Dash have an ego? :P
(Yes, yes, please make a cuddle Tempest story. It would be awesome.)

A very thorough analysis! I agree 100% :D
Just saw it today with my mom and younger sisters. The oldest has been a huge fan since the show premiered, and she got me into it in the summer of 2011, so one could say we were quite pumped. We loved it! The animation was gorgeous, the voice acting was very well done, and the music was spectacular. Though rushed at a few parts (Canterlot being invaded), I still greatly enjoyed it. An easy 9/10 from me!
Went to see it the next night because of having to work the morning after you guys saw it. Worth seeing again.
