September, we hardly knew ye · 9:02am Oct 1st, 2017
I'll be honest, September could've gone a bit better. I failed to live up to my expectations for both the Changing Seasons and Sunset Shimmer Day Top 10 contests.
In retrospect, they were pretty foolish expectations to have held in the first place. I mean, shit... when you got a contest with the likes of Novel-Idea, Oroboro, and Albinocorn in it, it stops being a question of 'can I win?' and becomes 'how badly do I lose?'. They say 'shoot for the moon, that way even if you miss you land among the stars' but they forget to mention that once you miss you target, it's a long way down as the gravity of reality sets in. Still not sure if I would've been better off had I remained oblivious to either's existence.
Blah.
Gotta shake off the pity-fest and move forward.
I know the month was quiet in terms of any publishing, but I do have stuff in the works. Got a quick RariJack one-shot going through the editing process: a little palate cleansing after so many months of writing Sunset Shimmer. Hopefully I can this ready in a few weeks. Also have another M-rated project getting close to a state where I can feel comfortable posting it up, though that's been an on-and-off project because my editor is a bad influence on me.
I really need to get back to work on 'A New Sun Rises.' It's been nearly three years and it's still plodding along. I feel like I'm losing out if I can't get that 'Finished' tag on it because I'm extremely hesitant about putting it forward to anyone when it's still incomplete.
Back in ye olden days of when I judged The More Most Dangerous Game, billymorph came from nowhere and beat the likes of Pascoite, Aquaman, shortskirtsandexplosions, Norse Pony, and Blueshift. It happens a lot more than you'd think.

I ain't holding my breath I'll win any 'community favourite' polls against those lot. I just don't have the market penetration to win a game of numbers.

Oh, community favorite contests are the worst. I think they're pretty stupid, honestly.
