Now, I haven't seen much of the Ninjago series in itself, but I have seen enough to know how the Ninjas got the mechs and how Lloyd knows Garmadon is his father. Really, this movie is taking the chance to assume you watched the show before seeing this.
But unlike a certain movie that I dare not mention, this is a good kind of assumption. With an all-star cast and well written jokes, this got me laughing (though another part of my mind wants to scream at a couple people for having their phones on during the movie). But at the same time though, there are a few moments that are a little deep.
Overall, I find Lego: Batman to be the stronger of the Lego films we got this year, but isn't to say that this movie is bad. In fact, after a long drought of not seeing any good movies, this is the start of the good movies again, especially one two weeks from now that I finally saw the trailer for in person.
