Methinks fire-stomping powder would do a good job of it.
Mix powder and oxygen, heat to a boil. Suddenly, the oxygen becomes violently no longer available. Surely yaks aren't stupid (they'll tell you all about that fact) – even if they can't stomp something, that doesn't mean it can't be stomped.
