(update- changed the title)
Uuuggghhhhh
So I finally posted the first chapter of a story I have been dwelling on for years. I mean years.
One day a while back I somehow stumbled upon the god-awful, horrendous, misogynistic AU- Fall of Equestria.
It seriously disgusted me, but was one of those stories that managed to linger in my subconscious and I ended up reading them like one might watch a series of youtube videos about trucks hitting bridges.
There are many, many problems with that AU (misogyny, shitty/no plots, Gary Stu villains, constant mind-numbing rape, etc) but I think what actually was the worst for me was how bleak it was. I hated the idea that the whole plot revolved around the concept of these characters lost so hard that there's no chance they'll ever win. They lost. The caribou won. That's it. They're too weak and powerless to ever fight back, and any efforts are punished.
I HATED that.
I love watching these characters go through hardships and coming out the other side, often stronger and better than before.
And that's the point of 'Heroes Will Rise'
No matter what you throw at them, they'll survive. They keep standing every time you knock them down.
That's the story I needed, and that's the story I will write.
I know that some people just want this AU to die, and I agree. I hate it too!
But I also found myself thinking about how these characters could fight back, and honestly? I've had a blast creating different ideas and stories within this AU, and it's been almost therapeutic knowing that they'll find a way through, even when things look darkest.
So yeah- there you go!
I don't even know who I'm writing this for, but hopefully folks give the fic a chance- they may be surprised.
I knew the fic was going to get a bunch of downvotes (but still- all that red! My poor ego!) but no matter what I am very proud of this story.
Fall of Equestria is an unusually strong brand of horrible that tends to stick in your head. Can see why you'd end up wanting to write a counter story.

Heh, yeah. I mean I definitely enjoy a good dystopian setting, but that one stuck in a bad way.
Appreciate the comment

And the best part about us Bronies with the FoE universe, we write ways of how are heroes Rise... and how the villains suffer in horrific ways.
