Movie, Animated Shorts, and TV References/Homages - Part 1 · 5:54am Sep 16th, 2017
I'm a real fan of movies, tv shows, and fan-made animated stuff, so I thought it might be fun if I made some references and/or pay homage to certain quotes and scenes that I'm familiar with.
Some have caught them, others have not... but since my first series (or, season 1) is complete, I figured I'd share them with you, but in more than one post because there's quite a few.
A Race Against Time
1) "Rememberence" by Argodaemon - The special room where Rowan turns everyone except Twilight into statues
2) Twilight, Fluttershy, Sunset, and (later on) Casey end up in the same PPG world from "Double Rainboom"
3)
Pinkie takes the place of her other self in the "Smile HD" world, but later on, Starlight witnesses everything that the actual Evil Pinkie does, so she uses a memory-eraser spell on herself... this is also the same Evil Pinkie that Discord brings to beat the hell out of Dragon Midnight Sparkle, and the world where Pinkie sends Rowan to
4) Rainbow ends up in the "G" version of this world...
5) This plays in the background while Twilight and the others help make what is pretty much Crystal Mirror 2.0
6) Pinkie Pie sings this song as a way of distracting Dragon Midnight
7) Alternate Fluttershy sings this to Stardust, which leads to them kissing, and the world he's in getting fixed
8) This scene when Stardust tries to continue the quest on his own, but (his) Twilight convinces him otherwise
9) The car chase scene in the EG world is an homage to this one from "Looney Tunes: Back in Action"
10) This is pretty much what Stardust and Miles' 1st fight was like...
... and this was the rematch
11) This scene - when Marty sees his dad stand up to Biff and says "talk about deja vu" - was the inspiration for when Twilight defeats Past Rowan, and watches the past selves of her and Stardust share their official kiss
12) The montage in ch 34 where all the alternate Stardust worlds are fixed, Casey and Twilight become a couple, and Stardust embraces Applejack is based on this scene from "Bruce Almighty"
13) The Rainbooms sing a cover of this song from Ice Age 4 - "We Are" by Keke Palmer
And, last but not least, this is the introduction song for Evil Stardust, performed by Crush 40...
