So I got back on this site after a stretch of nothing, and I did get a bit of desire to do more work on my, stories, but I have to wonder if anyone that's following me even gives a shit if i live or die. Not in a serious life-threatening nature, just wondering if anyone cares about anything even remotely pony-related.
It's been 7 fucking years since Friendship is Magic took the internet by storm.
Seven years since any of us first saw old Twit Spackle get booted to a thatched-roof skyline of a hick town.
Seven years since most of us were young enough to devote all our time to the wonder of pastel ponies dancing across our screens.
People have mostly moved on, from what I gather. Most of the creators I loved have moved on in some way, either by transitioning to producing their own original content from the fanbase they'd gotten thanks to ponies, or by giving up their creator mantle and dropping art/music/animation entirely.
I don't want to go down the road of either, but it seems like the latter is what my future holds. I don't want it to be that way, but I have to be realistic. So, before I cancel all my stories and drop this pony fanfic business, I have to ask anyone who might read this:
Do you care anymore? Does anyone reading this care anymore? I just want an answer this time. Any answer will do. I don't care if it's a simple 'yes' or a paragraph-long response. I just want somebody to say one damn thing to me so I know that if I keep going or quit, someone will care.
So please do me a favor just this one time and say something.

Do I care anymore?
Yes. I still watch each episode with eager anticipation. Season 7 pony is still fun to watch.
Is it as self-consistent as it was back in Season 2? No. This makes it both harder and easier to write for. The fuzzier the characters are, the harder it is to be called out on minutia, and I think a lot of the nit-pickers have moved on because you really can't be as certain character Y will do action X anymore or even if it will work in the world the same way this time, but it makes it harder to channel a character into your writing.
If anything the world has become less of a utopia as time has passed. I think the percentage of people who would be gung-ho for stepping through a portal and popping into equestria was much higher in Season 2 than it is now. Or at least people would rather pop into Season 2 equestria with the world consistent with that than the world as it is.
The upcoming movie is quite the wildcard. The episodes have been limited by the brain-drain the movie did to the show as well as the fact that you have something you can't contradict that was years in the making. This made them do more slice of life and backstory type things than bringing out some very new adventures.
I think the big problem wearing Fimfiction itself down is the lack of good writers doing epic stories. Everyone is doing one-shots and short form fiction these days and the main epics that are out there are simply stories that started during the golden era and haven't been abandoned or finished yet.
Yes, I certainly care. I really look forward to each episode and really want to keep writing for it as long as I can.
