Character inspirations, Ivan. · 5:38pm Aug 20th, 2017
As part of my currently ongoing series, 'fixing the balance', I intend to do an in depth analysis of my core characters and the currently unnamed threat. The first to get this treatment is Ivan. In this segment, I will touch on his backstory and explain his personality.
Ivan's backstory is surprisingly simple. He was found on the doorstep of a child's home one day (however poetic that sounds), and was raised there his whole life. Through this time, he trained himself as an endurance racer in order to avoid any conflict in the home, and stuck around Made at school.
Ivan is shown throughout the story to be quite moody, as shown with getting his new body and others constantly complaining about his name. This aspect is somewhat inspired by church from red vs blue. He is also shown to be quite useless in most instances, like how he was immediately taken out by the Timberwolf in their first encounter. This will be a trope of later chapters, but he will not be entirely useless.
In fact, Ivan is quite that quick learner. Being able to learn how to fly after only 3 days! Wether this is due to actual skill or plot convenience is up for discussion, but this is still quite a feat.
Onto personalities, and oh boy is he hard to explain. I guess you could see him as the show off of the group, with a small slice of a cocky attitude (okay, a medium size slice), a wish to impress others and deep anger issues. He also has a somewhat carefree attitude to him when he is accustomed to his surroundings.
However, it's far from sunshine and rainbows when it comes to Ivan (unless you include his language). He seems to have a serious issue with authority, something that comes into play later, and a constant need to argue and show off.
He is also, really, really irresponsible. Especially when it comes to his own wellbeing. Because of this, he is incredibly accident prone. Such as with the fight with the Timberwolf, or when he gets drunk at the party. He can take one hell of a beating and come out unscathed.
That being said, if your stuck in a corner with nowhere else to run, you'd be glad if this idiot comes running. The bad guys might get distracted by him and give you the chance to run.
