New prologue for Spider-Dash, along with a new name. · 8:35pm Aug 19th, 2017
As you may have noticed have the title of my story changed from 'The Awesome Spider-Dash' to 'The Awesome Spider-Dash: Origins', but that's not all that has been changed. The description and cover art is now a bit different as well.
Any second now I'll release a new and improved version of the very first chapter...or half of it at least. The rewritten version actually ended up being a fair bit longer then the old one so I split it into two parts.
Beware, this will mean that there will be a few changes to what exactly happened back then. Nothing too much, I assure you, but a few things.
For instance, the old picture I had at the beginning is now longer relevant given not only the Spider-Girl's redesign...but also some of the villains in the background as well.
A thing I added that wasn't there before was a bit of a story about the 'Captain Marvel' character that alluded to in a few chapters. Her role was that of a convenience, to explain how the (now locked up) supervillains got taken down in the first place, and why a certain newspaper publisher doesn't trust masked vigilantes. However, the character who once was Captain Marvel is actually still around, but I'm not gonna spoil who that is just yet.
Also, the Wonderbolts' role is a bit different this time around. See, when I thought about what I wanted for this story, I realised that the Wonderbolts, including Spitfire, Soarin and Fleetfoot, didn't have...well...anything to do in the story if they were just a group of elite flyers that Dash wants to join one day. And given that Spitfire is one of my favourite side-characters in the show, it felt like a bit of a waste.
At the same time, I found myself in the lack of any good police characters I can use. Sure, Shining Armour is perfect as Captain George Stacy...but what about Jean DeWolf or Stan Carter? Who would play them? I mean, the only other royal guards in the show who was named was that Spearhead guy from the Flurry Heart episode or...(shudder)...Flash Sentry, and neither of those did I really want to write about. So why not have the Wonderbolts as police officers instead?
Sure, Dash's mom still has a history of once being a Wonderbolt, that hasn't changed...but now that team was mostly just a squad of flyers that fought in the Yakjakistan War (if you're wondering what that war was about, it...um...might have something to do with a piano playing itself, but the rest I'll leave to your imagination). Though when the war ended, the former members of the team started to do other stuff instead...like joining the police or something.
More importantly, Rainbow Dash's great ambition in life is now more about becoming a pilot in general, and not specifically a Wonderbolt.
