I have a lot of unfinished stories, pony and otherwise. My approach to writing is Darwinian -- I start whatever I feel like, and let the best story win. Lately, though, I've been focusing on my original novel Hidemarket and writing mainly dumb clop for ponyfic. Because clop is a fun and easy break from the hard work of writing serious fiction. More serious ponyfic has been on hold while I chase my dreeeeaaaammms.
Then, this morning, Scoots showed me this abomination.
Why is this important to me? The original Flatliners wasn't that great, and TBH this one looks like it's taking it in a more fun, jump-scare-y kind of direction, as opposed to the original's meh attempt at psychological thriller. It still has 'bomb' written all over it in magic marker, but you know, maybe 'so bad it's good'. Well, I was working on a fanfic based on the original Flatliners. And I don't want people to think I was basing it on the new one, because that would be awful! I'd look trendy.
Also, my story, while BRILLIANT, has 'bomb' written all over it as well. Bronies hate horror. It's all OC, so there's no 'character appeal'. It's set 100 years after the show so ponies can have digital video cameras and laptops. Every canon character but... IDK, probably Twi, Spike, Ember, Cadey, Flurry, and an very elderly Applejack are dead or missing. If there's EVER an audience for this story, it will exist, for a blink of an eye, when the film comes out.
So. Anyway. Who the hell asked for a Flatliners remake? But I guess I should be grateful for the opportunity.
It's about halway done right now. Anybody wanna pre-read it?

Of course you, Scoots!
Should I watch the movie first?

It would be better if you didn't, TBH. The story is less "Flatliners with Ponies" and more "I'm Exploring This Theme and Making It Better + Ponies".
