Status Update: August · 5:35pm Aug 10th, 2017
Well, this was bound to go sour quickly.
The 3D modelling has hit its first major snag, but I'm back to applying for other jobs again, so who really cares? I am considering whether I can fix the snag with retopologising: sculpting very detailed meshes out of the low-detail ones, and then constructing a mid-detail one on top of the high-detail one, which would be both functional and good-looking. That's the plan, at least, not sure if it's feasible, never tried it before. Currently going through a major dip in motivation again, and considering whether or not I qualify as a toxic person to those around me, or if they are toxic to me. So that's the professional and personal side of it.
On the story side of it, I'm prioritising the Thorax-centric "I Didn't Vote For You" now, simply because it's been too long since I published anything and I want to put something out for your enjoyment. It has gone up to first draft stages of the encounter with the turkey horde, so it's just ending and such that needs doing. The Orphanhooves Social has progressed to first draft stages up to the point of Spike and Scoots signing up. I have no idea when Orphanhooves will be done, but the Thorax thing, I'm aiming to be done by the time September rolls around.
Stuff in general has slowed down, and I don't really have any excuses as to why. It just has.
I also have another idea for a fic, kind of in the same timeline as the Rumble's Big Day trilogy, or at least with the same vibe. Working title is "Apple Bloom's First Rodeo," and features her going up against Rumble in a, you guessed it, rodeo. Kind of a deconstruction of what we got glimpses of in Fall Weather Friends and Winter Wrap-Up: that the race of pony you're born as determines what you can and cannot do, in black and white terms. Specifically, that Rumble's wings count as a competitive difference, regardless of whether he's using them to fly or not. I'd likely add a third character, an Earth pony OC with more of a chip on their shoulder about it, because giving Apple Bloom envy like that doesn't make a lick of sense, doubly so if I'm sticking to that setting. But that's only at the concept level so far. As for superfun's request: superfun, I haven't started on it yet. Again, sorry.
So that's what you can look forward to. I'll try to pick myself up again and get into a good rhythm of work. In the meantime, have a cool French song. Someone ponify this, please?
