Miss Koi Reviews MLP The Movie Comic Issue #2 (WARNING: SPOILERS AHOY!) · 4:59am Jul 28th, 2017

Haha lol see what I did there you guys?;) In the title?;) Did you see my pun?;) But seriously, if you don't want to see any material on the new characters from the upcoming MLP movie coming out this October and their backstories (which I feel is slight spoilers, so not too bad of spoilers OR at least, that's how these comics and their writers are treating this material as), then I do suggest you turn back now:)
Again, spoilers ahoy! Argh!

Since I reviewed the first issue of the comic of this mini comic series, I might as well go all the way with it:) My overall score for this comic: 8 hearts out of 10 <3 Versus the first comic, which got 9 hearts out of 10 in my opinion (which I forgot to mention in my brief review of it) <3

Anyway, this comic takes place a little before, during, and after what happened in the first issue. And of course, based on my "Ahoy!" and "Argh!" references, it's all about Pirates;)

No, not those

No, not those either, although still one of my favorite rides at Disneyland just simply for the fact that there's a dog in it who has the trollish intelligence above humans;) Good doggie^^

There you go! These pirates:) Let me just say, these pirates are interesting:) Interesting in a sense of, well, let me explain: It's implied that before the Storm King was roaming the skies (or was it Don Karnage's Sky Pirate crew from TaleSpin, I forget which;))

with Storm King's ships and such, they were robbing like they usual do as displayed in this comic, that they would rob bigger ships or sky islands or things like that and take riches and gold beyond the mortal imagination. In their eyes, they were not acting like true pirates cause they're robbing small ships like they did at the beginning of the comic. Their goal is to be like the fearsome and adventurous pirates they use to be. However, despite robbing these smaller ships, they still have excitement and gusto for whatever they get like sand and paste!:D Yay sand and paste!:D Lol!XD These are parrots of simple wants and needs;) But unlike Don Karnage and his sky pirate crew, and much like in their portrayal in the MLP trailer, these are...not necessarily "good" pirates, but rather heroic pirates!:D Yeah that's it!:)

Unlike Don Karnage and the Storm King (who only quote on quote cares for his army to the extent of what they can do for him), Captain Cel (that's my nickname for her by the name;)), the main focus character of this comic that has to go through the journey, deeply cares for her rascal parrot crew like a big sister cares for her little brothers:) She's not quite a motherly figure based on how she interacts with her crew on a more casual and fun and personal manner that reminds me of an older sibling and their younger siblings. She even extended this big sister love to the cat stowaways Capper and Chummer (which again, like the first comic and the movie trailer, we don't get much development or insight into Capper's character or his traveling companion)

Based on how this comic end, we can cross our hooves and predict that the next comic in this arc will focus on Capper and Chummer:)

As much as she wants to be like the pirate she use to be in the ole days, she cares for her crew even more. It was because of the wants/choice made by her crew that ultimately decides her decision in terms of her deal with the Storm King's former right hand nightmare cloud man (based on the Storm King throwing this guy off the ship, most likely his presence in this comic and his chances to be in the movie are done and over with it. Without any real explanation why he betrayed the Storm King and why he wants treasure so badly, or to prove he has character or real motivations):

In a way, her decision is selfish and yet not. It's not selfish because despite her better judgement and concern for the safety of the crew, she says yes because they desperately want this opportunity to be real pirates again. But it's still selfish because she kinda agrees with them, and ultimately by following her crew's desires, it's following that desire to prove your self worth through power, control, and greed. Cel and her crew, and mainly Cel are meant to contrast and have some similar traits with the Storm King. They are both selfish characters, but with two different kinds of selfishness with their own motivations for their selfishness. Cel rejects magic and sees action as the solution to get her desires, while the Storm King does rely on force and action, ultimately his goal is magic in order to get what he wants. And it is because of Cel's selfishlessness and selfishness that cost her freedom and her crew's freedom, working now as his "cargo haulers", but I have a feeling it's more than that.

(Bwhahaha lol the expressions in this pic are priceless, not to mention fuel for crack shipping seriouslyXD)
Overall, all the characters were great in this: Cel, the Storm King, the sky pirates, the minions for the Storm King, etc. :) The sky pirates crew didn't get much development like Capper, Chummer, and Strife the former right hand man to the Storm King, but I think they will in the movie though:) Though, one question remains....what species are these freakin sky pirates!?X0 Seriously, movie, you better answer this question?!X0 Anyway, I can't wait to hear Zoe Salanda take on this half pirate/half normal speech for Captain Cel;)

To end this review, let's enjoy this reference/joke;)
