Getting Back to my Roots · 12:07am Jul 18th, 2017
Watching some movies, trying to get back to the roots of what makes me want to write. You will observe that most of them are dark, gritty, 80s cartoons about animals and mythical creatures. Imagine that.
Rock and Rule, possibly best soundtrack in a cartoon ever.
Watership Down, The Godfather of them all. Saw this when I was in 4th grade, and I was a furry forever after.
Plague Dogs. Actually I haven't seen this before, but the book was extremely dark. Except for the tacked on happy ending. Bleh!
Felidae would have blown my mind if I'd seen it when I was a kid, even more than Watership Down, which is positively tame by comparison.
Flight of Dragons, a Rankin and Bass masterpiece. Featuring semi-plausible dragon physics! Can't find a decent full video on YouTube, I'll have to hunt around for it.
The Last Unicorn. Possibly the perfect film. I love the western/anime style of Rankin & Bass's animated films. I think some of the animators later worked with Studio Ghibli? Too lazy to look it up. Anyway, it's also not on Youtube, but it's on Netflix, and I have it on DVD.
And obviously this wonderful nonsense. Not on Youtube, but I know this one's on DailyMotion, which FiM won't let me embed.
Hopefully this will help me get my groove back. Feel free to link any similar movies you know of in the comments!
oh shit, the entire movies? O.o
Fuck yeah, Rock and Rule. :D That movie is so stupid and I love it.

Love the credits crawl. Sure, the film is full of drugs and nudity. But, it's from the 80s, so there's a rainbow at the end.
