Status Update & Vacation · 6:56am Jun 25th, 2017
Hey you! How have you been? I've been busy. You may recall a ways back, I mentioned that I was renovating my late grandfather's house, so we can sell it. Cuz it was a dump. 'Was' being the operative word. I am now finished! It has been about 4 months, which is atrociously long. I planned on being there for 'one month,' which in reality should've been no longer than three, but fml. Anyhow, my checklist is completely ticked off. Stick a fork in me, I'm done.
Pics or didn't happen? How 'bout a video:
SO. I can get my ass back to writing horsewords, right? Well, no and yes. I'm like a shark, I gotta keep moving. I've got some loose plans for future money-earning, most likely flipping houses. But first (let me take a selfie), I'm off for a trip. It doesn't feel like that long since we got the tickets, it honestly feels impromptu, but this is coming from the guy who plans going to BronyCon a year in advance. Anyway, I'm going to visit Iran.
Now hold up, Red. Iran seems like an awfully random destination, you might say. Isn't. My dad's from there, so there you go. It's my first time going over there, but my little sisters have already been there last year, and by all accounts it's a really nice place. Not a war-torn hellhole like Iraq (no thanks to US, right?), which is apparently the first thing that anyone thinks of when I tell them I'm going to Iran, so let's just nip that in the bud.
However there was a little issue. According to their laws, as I have Iranian blood, that makes me a citizen. As a citizen, I can't enter the country without an Iranian passport. Now, I've been had the passport for almost a year now, but here's the second issue: military service is mandatory there. So I need a visa stamp to let me leave, basically. And for some reason, the embassy in Washington, DC kept fucking up the visa. My dad and I had to keep going on 12-hour road trips to DC. Third time's the charm, I guess.
I'm all set now, leaving Sunday June 25th, and I'll be back on July 9th, two weeks. Should be a lot of sight-seeing, awkward meetings with unknown family members, and shitting in squat toilets.
Oh, also, 11 hour flight, 5 hour layover in Istanbul (I hope they don't decide to stage another coup while I'm there), then another 2 and a half hour flight to Tabriz. Mother of Celestia, I hate travelling. I really do. As if it isn't bad enough I can never get comfortable in airplane seats, it's a long enough flight, and late enough, that I'll inevitably get tired enough to want to nod off. And then it's like I wanna fall asleep, but there's too much noise on the plane from turbulence and babies crying and shit, and even if I can sleep, they turn the lights back on and wake my ass up in half an hour to feed me, because they're like required by law to serve you 3 squares on a flight that's not even half a day long, for some stupidass reason. And if there's one thing I hate, it's taking naps. Because invariably I wake up more tired than when I went to sleep. (For that matter, that's how it is EVERY time I go to sleep. fml)
DAMMIT RED, wtf does this shit have to do with writing?!
Ok, ok, here's the fun part: I'm usually much more inclined to write when I'm travelling long distances like this. Aha. Yeah, turns out, being trapped in a sardine can, woefully uncomfortable and unable to sleep, I like to write to take my mind off of it. So who knows? I might write some horsewords.
What else was I going to say? Oh yes, I just turned 29 on June 20th. Yep, Summer Sun Celebration day (you know, the solstice). Hue.
Oh yeah, in case you hadn't guessed, I'm going to BronyCon. I'm all set, just bought the badge today, had the hotel for ages. Hope to see you there! Hopefully I'm dragging a couple of folks along with me.
Also, also, how 'bout that new episode, eh? Not really a spoiler, but hell, we've got Will Shatner in an episode now! Damn good episode, too. Weird and cool, huh? Second Star Trek actor... now we just need to get Patrick Stewart to voice a character that Discord messes with. Hehe.
Alright, I'm signing off. I might check in now and again, but if I'm not back in two weeks, start worrying.
Why are the washer and dryer in the kitchen? That's a first for me.
4582883 lol because it's a shithole, that's why. It's only 1000 sqft. Built in the early 70s, the whole subdivision is made with about 3 different cookie-cutter houses, and built extremely fast and cheap. The walls are made of 2x3s, the roof trusses are on 24" centers, and the roof decking is 3/8" plywood. The door frames were not even nailed in, (I believe) the door frames came with the moulding already nailed on around the casing, and they just put them in place and nailed in the mouldings, but not the actual casing.
And the dryer was opposite of the sink before, I moved it next to the washer. At least that tidies it up a bit.

I could tell it was an old 70's house right away
Say, this isn't in Michigan is it. Kinda looking for a place and as long as it has 4 walls and space for a bed I'll take it.
4583345 Noap, Illinois. $150k and it's yours! I'll even help you redeck the roof lol
4583466 ty. I'm there now. Did write a little.
