So! I went ahead and finished Carrot and Stick.
Even though I don't expect it'll be nearly as popular as some of my other stuff (what, with it being a sequel to a story about background ponies that's heavily influenced by a completely different series of novels), I had a lot of fun writing it. I mean, for one, filling in the blanks for background pony personalities is kind of like writing original content, right?
Not to mention I'm entirely too proud of little gags like having Flash Sentry as a coward and womanizer, or Special Agent Golden Harvest. And that's before you get into some of the utterly shameless puns I worked into the story.
So yeah. Cranking out 10k words over the course of a week ain't bad for a spur of the moment thing. And honestly, the contest thing is almost incidental-- I'm just glad for the inspiration to write ... well, something.
As for what I'm gonna work on next? I have ... absolutely no idea. I might pretend to be an actual author and tinker around with some of the (many) unfinished manuscripts on my hard drive in hopes of cobbling together something not-terrible. Or maybe I'll just be lazy and write some silly Rarijack fluff or something. Only time will tell!
Rarijack fluff in your EQG canon would be nice. But that's just my opinion.

Maaaaaybe. The funny thing is, while I'm all for Rarijack silliness, it gets a little ... weirder when they're human, I guess? Part of it comes from the younger characters, and part of it comes from the fact that I may have already used all my best Rarijack gags on the equine versions. Ironically, the EQG pair have had conspicuously confirmed onscreen hand-holding. HMM.
Anyway, while I have a few vague ideas, I haven't decided on my next project just yet. Stay tuned!
