Hello, Gentlehoof here. I am writing this to share a little of myself so I am not so much of a mystery.
I live in Colorado along the Rocky Mountains. Cheyenne Mountain and Pikes Peak are right outside my front door and the start of the Great Plains start right outside my back door. I am a single father to a teenage son, who is also a fan of MLP. I wouldn't describe myself as a diehard Brony per se. I don't own any merchandise besides the DVD sets, and I don't even get the channel that MLP is played on. I watched the show off the internet and fell in love with it. Later I discovered the fan stories and thought to myself "Hay! I can do that!" And here I am.
I have been working on Herd Life for nearly a year now, and I still have a lot I want to do with it. In order for me to release a 5k chapter every week or two, it requires that I work on it every singe day during all my free time. I work full time doing construction, and when I get home, I make dinner for me and my son. After that, I get on my computer and write. Some nights I write only a few paragraphs other nights I can write several pages. And this has been going on for nearly a year.
I have the general plot worked out, but all the little things I keep adding is just fun things I think of while I am at work. The style of Herd Life is like that of a Soap Opera rather than a true story. It has the feeling of running like a show with each chapter like an episode.
If there was a character I would describe as being the most like me, I would say that it would be Strongbuck. When I write his personality I am channeling my own into him. So if you want to know what I am like, then just look at him. I guess by giving him two mares to love and care for I am being influenced a bit of my loneliness and my desire for him to find the happiness I didn't.
I could share a bit of my politics and my belief in the right of a child to live. But I'll just skip over all that. I am of German decent. My favorite color is Green-(same as my eye color), my favorite Pony Tribe is Earth Pony. My favorite music is classical. I absolutely hate mariachi and rap btw. And my favorite pony in the show I would have to say is Apple Jack. I love her hard work ethics and her love of her family.

Interesting post. Thanks for sharing some info about yourself. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a single father. On another note I agree with you that applejack love of her family is perhaps one of her best traits. If I haven't said it before thanks for the story sir and I hope for more!

It's great know a little about the author to one of my favorite stories.
I can't imagine being a single Dad. 
I am very grateful to the time you take to write these stories. I have a story that I have tried to start writing for a long time and I can't ever really get started. My Favorite Mane 6 is Applejack too. 
Celestia is my favorite princess and earth ponies are my favorite race.

Being a single dad isn't that hard to imagine. Its a pretty much like being a normal dad, just without someone to share the horrible nightmare of parenthood with... ah... I mean to share the fun with... yeah. I meant fun. Definitely fun.🍼
