    Potentially The End

Due to the suddenly VERY uncertain landscape that TTRPGs have been dropped into thanks to Wizards of The Coast and Hasbro, I am now faced with a problem.

For those of you who don't really pay attention to the world of Dungeons and Dragons, something of a war has begun. It is the fans vs. D&D owner and creator, Wizards of the Coast and, by proxy, Hasbro.

    The cause for the war?

    To the Surface!

Alright, I've been gone a long while. For the most part anyways. COVID... did not do me or mine any favors. Life got hard after it came in, and now I'm on my own.

    WWII

I have received a number of comments since the posting of Chapter 5 of Tartarus Forged. Most of those comments were respectful in asking why I would reference the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki like I did, and I thank you for that tact, but some of you... were not.

    It Started With An Idea

This is something that I've had running around my head for the last month or so. It's not something overly complicated, but about half-way through writing down this synopsis, I realized this had more potential than as just a fan-fic story. Alter a few key facts, such as ponies being involved... and I may have something I could genuinely turn into a book to one day be published.

The Final Legend · 11:22pm Jun 14th, 2017

I dream of another world.

I don’t remember when it started. For all I know it could have been happening from the moment I became capable of dreaming. But it happens every night, without fail. As a filly I enjoyed it. I mean, I got exotic stories every night when I fell asleep. How cool is that? Needless to say, my parents never had trouble getting me to sleep at night.

But as I got older, and began to understand the darker concepts I was seeing, I began to question it… and at times fear it.

I wasn’t sure at first, but in time I came to realize I always dreamt of the same world, even if the dream didn’t seem that way at first. This world was named Hyrule, and it was a land of heroic courage, brilliant wisdom, and unbridled power. In fact, everything in Hyrule revolves around one thing; the Triforce.

I’m not ashamed to admit that the Triforce is what initially sparked my interest in studying magic exclusively. There’s a lot about the Triforce that made me curious. It’s three traits; Power, Courage, and Wisdom, the fact that it is apparently all that remains of the power that belonged to the Goddess that created Hyrule, and the wildest thing of all; a single, rule-free, wish to be granted to whoever holds all three pieces of the Triforce.

That is, of course, not all I saw. I also saw the variety of life and cultures. The Zoras in Zora River. The Gorons on Death Mountain. The Kokori in the Lost Woods. The Gerudo in the Gerudo Desert. And the Hylians in Castle Town and other towns dotted around the rest of the land. For the most part the people were kind and friendly, if somewhat territorial at times.

I’ve also seen the monsters that roam these lands. Moblins, Stalphos’, Poes, Re-Deads, and more. So much more.

Wars have been fought. Such bloody wars… I’ve seen the depths these people can sink to in their darkest hour. I’ve seen the unimaginable cruelty they can inflict upon others. But… I’ve also seen them at their brightest and greatest. I’ve seen the unsung heroes, the warriors that live by honor, the martyrs that give everything for their loved ones, and the frontline heroes who win the day.

And one hero stands out above the rest. Link, the wielder of the Blade of Evil’s Bane and the Chosen of the Triforce of Courage. Again and again he appears throughout history, endlessly reincarnated to stop a single evil whenever it rises to once again attempt to plunge Hyrule into an Eternal Darkness that makes Nightmare Moon’s coup seem like nothing more than a sibling rivalry.

Ganon.

Ah, but the story of the eternal struggle between Link and Ganon does not begin with Ganon, but rather with a young man and a spirited woman; the original Link and Zelda. They journeyed to unknown lands, across time itself, and confronted the Demon King, Demise, to save the world.

Sadly, Demise was not a being that could just be defeated. With Link’s final blow, Demise cast a final curse, a last parting shot. His essence, and the spirit of the warrior that defeated him and the essence of the mortal reincarnation of the Goddess Hylia, would forever be locked within a cycle of war, endlessly reincarnated again and again.

Ganondorf was the one who inherited the Curse of Demise, and also somehow gained dominion over the Triforce of Power. With those two things, he became Ganon, the King of Evil. Time and time again he plunged Hyrule into darkness and despair, and time and time again a Hero, usually Link, would rise up and save the world.

Sometimes, it’s different though. Sometimes it’s not Ganon that is the villain. Sometimes, it’s not Link that is the Hero. Sometimes, it’s not Zelda who guides the Hero. Reincarnation is strange in that way. The soul will always be there, and life will influence and change it… but the container isn’t always the same. Things won’t always be solid and unchanging. Some things will be fluid and morphable.

And so begins my tale. My name is Twilight Sparkle… and I am the final Link.

Just something that's be percolating in the corner of my mind for a while. I'm not sure whether or not I will actually do anything with it, but I figured it would be a nice idea to throw up on the site and see the reaction to. If anyone wants to have a go at it, feel free, just please credit me as the owner of the original idea in the story summary.

Cool idea, definitely wouldn't mind seeing a story like this.

Please do it!!! We want it!!!

Well a female Link would be awesome! Idea Celestia is the reincarnation of Ganon but who would have Zelda's?Shining Armor possibly?
