Today is Daniel Ingram's birthday, he is responsible for composing the music and songs for most DHX shows, including My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. More recently, Daniel announced he just put the finishing touches on composing for the movie, which will involve a full orchestra. Perhaps as a trade off, that is why we're likely only getting five songs this season, and have already gotten two with the third soon to be on the way (we know Applejack's mom will sing a song in a flashback about how she fell in love).
Happy birthday, Daniel Ingram. I must say that thanks in part to "The Battle for Sugar Belle", you seem to have climbed out of your funk you've been in for about a year (prior to "The Battle for Sugar Belle" the last truly great song from him was "Luna's Future". He had some good or decent songs in the show, and the soundtrack for "Legend of Everfree" was a mixed bag, "Embrace the Magic" and "We Stand For Everfree" being the only stand outs from a score Daniel claimed he was quite fond of working on). Here's to hoping the rest of the songs for this season will be as good if not better than "The Battle for Sugar Belle", and that working with orchestra for the movie means the soundtrack will be full of memorable and powerful songs.
