Formatting Adjustments · 6:53pm Jun 5th, 2017
I suppose nobody will be surprised that this is a post about the website update. It’s startling and it’s clear there are still some bugs to work out. I’m sure I’ll get used to the new look which does have potential but there are one or two headaches I can see for writers. I have nearly finished Chapter 34 of Finding a Place but publishing will have to wait until I figure out how to fix the formatting.
The main problem I’m facing is the elimination of author-controlled indents. Indentation is now entirely in the hand of the reader in the format box where we can control the font and text size. I’ve used that as a trick to isolate thoughts in most of my stories but now I need to figure out a new solution.
I hope I can find a method that doesn’t make my stories harder to read but at the moment I’m a bit stuck.
Edit: For the moment I’m going with 6 white colored underscores, like this to get the indent. it might look a bit odd if your background isn’t white, but at least it’s something I can find and replace later if necessary.
______Indented for your convenience.
