Zen-mode ScifiPony Writing Advice · 11:28pm Apr 22nd, 2017

A member of my new FimFiction writing group, ScifiPony's Writer's Training Ground, asked me about deadlines, specifically about missing them. Here is the advice I gave:

Completion is a goal to strive for. It is not always possible. Each person is unique. Growing as an author sometimes means you don't complete this story now. Sometimes it means you don't complete it later. Or ever. What is important is starting. Better to start something new, discard the old, and try again. Any specific story is nothing. There will be untold many. Your growth is everything. What I mean by all this is to try to write constantly and don't fear. Certainly, you need not fear anything from my deadlines. They're to help you, if you chose to let them.
